I've been really enjoying these "Full Story" videos to expand my Marvel knowledge leading up Avengers: Endgame. I've come to realize the movies aren't a recreation of any comic run but rather a combination of many elements from different series. So one thing I struggle with is understanding which stories exist in each universe. Maybe a good series of videos to delineate each universe and which stories/characters happen within them? Or explain which stories the MCU pulls its inspiration from? for instance, it seems like the Infinity War movie pulls elements from the Infinity Gauntlet comic series and the Infinity Wars comic series explained in this video.
@amandam1205 жыл бұрын
I dont think he would do that because most comic readers know already. He might though for everyone who is only becoming interested in comics because of the movies. There's a lot of those people, which is a good thing because it gets more people buying comics. Bad because it makes the writers write and dumb down comics for movie viewers. The infinity war movie is an entity all it's own. They mainly just took the idea of the infinity stones thanos, part of the avengers, and some Easter eggs to create the movie. The marvel universe is not large enough yet to really base any movie on a certain comic.
@cartoonhistory3533 жыл бұрын

It would be really tough to make a video or series of videos that explain where the MCU draws inspiration from because sometimes they use something as small as Sparky in WandaVision and while he is a bit more important in the comic he appears in, in the show he's really just a throw away reference, so you might have 1 movie that contains references to 50 or more comics but not all of those references are important or even relevant enough to mention. The MCU really has become its own universe and while I get why you'd want to know that, idk if any one person could do that... But maybe it'll happen. It would be cool to watch in my opinion.

The "ups" and "downs" in your voice is natural cadences. Meaning that the way you talk has such a natural sense of triggering a sense of tension (voice raising in pitch) and release (voice lowering while you finish a sentence, idea, or thought). You also have a really good rhythm and tone to your voice which also is a great trait to have. (I was a music major and I'm fascinated by natural music which is language)

Ugh I have to say-Gerry Duggan is not one of my favourite writers. The changes he’s been making in his Pre-Secret Wars/Secret Wars run is just not working. The return of world devourer galactus-there was SOOOO much they could’ve done with Lifebringer and it was a fresh take on the otherwise ancient character. Also the change he’s made about the infinity stones being able to affect other universes just seems like such a stretch, that’s the whole purpose of the stones is that they work only in their respective universes. They should’ve had Hickman or Pak write this storyline imo
@furyberserk6 жыл бұрын
I would say it could be cool if the stones created a meteor storm in another universe while in that other universe by using the stones to create a portal in its own universe connecting it to another and making those meteors go from its own to another, thus not exactly breaking the rules as it's still powerless in the new universe, but powerful in its own. But I think that is as much a stretch as would be allowed. Not just shitting on lore.
@taylormoala92735 жыл бұрын
furyberserk I see what you’re saying, I see a loophole like that where something physical; i.e. energy beam/meteors are created in the original universe and sent through to another. But again, the portal itself cannot be made by the gauntlet, the stones wouldn’t be able to pull it off. Which again goes back to what I was saying-it’s amazing that writers and fans want things to remain status quo where they should be progressing/evolving but on the same note they’ll back all the dumb changes like this one from Gerry 🙃 excuse the rant but yeah 😁 peace ✌️

Well, his Deadpool run was quite good (but it's only my opinion). He should have sticked to that, but that could have been tiring and boring for him.
@Neverbetred5 жыл бұрын
If they want an intriguing angle - try to write a story that contends that there are no multiple infinity stones or no stones at all. They are extensions of the omniverse. The stones are legitimately a plot device commanded by the omniverse's creator and the powers they bestow are controlled by that power. The power is simply the creative team at Marvel responsible for the story at the time. That is next level storytelling. Give Marveldom fans a real twist and have a story step outside of all continuity. Tell a story as they did in the Nam series or as DC did when they introduced the Prime Universe. Marvel is a comic world and the characters in this story recognize all Marvel superheroes as existing in comics. But some characters do exist in this "reality". That is next level Grant Morrison style: Peter Parker being raised by his folks in Queens reading comics about Spiderman after whom he was named becomes embroiled in a bizarre story. He is approached while attending NYU on scholarship by a KZbin "Celebrity" who goes by the handle Steve Stranje about an event which he uncovered in his questionable Occult podcast. Steve believes that he may have legitimate (maybe) proof there ARE multiple existences. And he believes Spiderman is the key to accessing them all. Marvel should commit to a real extreme world changer rather than hanging on the stones so much. The stones in this World One are theories which are empowered by the imagination of the comic writer, writing devices. However, they are at the verge of becoming reality as the writing has provided focus on world one events and offered inspiration to world one discoveries of which Pete and Steve will play roles. I agree with you - there is too much rehashing in the cosmic stories to keep most of it straight nevermind getting invested. I think the stories need to be grounded in everyday stuff again and save epics as biannual events IMO.

I think they should have just kept the two things seperate. I know the comic books are trying to bank on the success of the movies, but I don't think they should just let the writers of the movies dictate their cannon. It's a mistake. They could have just branched out a title directly reflecting the movies. Throw in some side stories for the downtime in between them, but yeah.

Actually at minute 38, i believe you are incorrect. Opening a small window JUST TO look is not the same as opening a door to step through. In my opinion it comes down to intention. A person can look through and see but they can not step through and act, thus the original limitation of the stones is kept if the understanding is bent.
