Their progression, musically, throughout the years, both as a band and individuals, is absolutely amazing. Their music always has been a staple in my music collection and will continue to be one. This is just another showing of how creative they are as a collective.
@LoneWanderer6869 жыл бұрын
Although I miss old In Flames, their new style isn't that bad. For example, Come Clarity is an album that I didn't like at first but it grew on me and nowadays I think that it's amazing! They are a little box of surprises.
@959tolis6269 жыл бұрын
Dude, I've been thinking exactly that. Every album they've released the past 10 years or so sounds different from what came before it. Sometimes that's bad, sometimes that's good. But at least we aren't hearing the same stuff again and again and I like their creativity, even when it doesn't pay off. I for one loved Siren Charms, even though my first impression was that it was total crap. It grew on me, like you said. Now, is it their best work? No, not even close. But is it bad? Nope, not even close again. I guess people will continue whining no matter what. If their style remained unchanged after all these years, people would be saying that they've stagnated and have no creativity. To each their own I guess.

Αποστόλης Νικάκης In Flames aren't doing what Lamb of God have actually done for the past 10 years now, which is releasing the same album over and over again but with a different album name each time, every single song that LOG has "produced" during the past 10 years have all sounded exactly the same as the last.

Im a die hard fan of clayman, and when i heard this album i nearly barfed, it sounded much to poppy. maybe im a fanyboy but it definitely grows on you. i know exactly what youre saying too about LOG +Tobi Kun, i recently listened to their discog back to back and its very very samey. still brilliant though!

In Flames have changed their sound pretty much on every album they made, but always remained true to themselves, and were top performing. Love to hear the old fans pissing in their beer about how In Flames now sucks. If you like music that never changes, go listen to some AC/DC! Music evolves and changes. Stagnation leads to the death of creativity. I've followed In Flames for a long time and they have always been moving forward.
@psychedelicfright856 жыл бұрын
They've followed every popular style since day one. Listen to each album, and then what else was popular around that time. You'll see. Enslaved, now that is evolution. There's moving forward on your own, and there's moving forward with trends. These guys chose the latter. They were soft as melodic death metal too.

@spellalex9 жыл бұрын

I think Siren Charms is their most "human" and honest album, it took a while for me to fully appreciate the album. There are so many emotions in the songs (Everythings Gone, Siren Charms, With Eyes Wide Open, Rusted Nail to name a few). Yet at the same time I think SOAPF is their best album to date. It captures the modern IF sound and combines it with the trademarks of the first albums which I think is damn amazing.

@markodumencic87348 жыл бұрын
The thing is, In Flames' pre-Clayman style was so unique and diverse that you can never get tired of it so you don't want the band to change We expected them to put out amazing melodeath on and on, but instead they chose to do sth different, which is completely fine. I, as a matter of fact, happen to like the new stuff aswell but I'd still rather have them go back to their old style. And then, you have bands like Lamb of God whose every album sounds very similar. I like them aswell, but after a few listens it gets really stale. That's my opinion at least.

I think one of the primary reasons why they had to swap their style so much is because of Anders clearly losing his voice. Equally, they lost Jesper...either way, I still support this band no matter what. They're chill guys and I like that they're trying things out

I simply don't understand it. if the fans of a band do not like their new album or their new sound or whatever they have a right just as anyone else to say whether they like it or not. I see so many people telling others who are not happy with the new sound telling people to go away and shut up and making some very serious personal insults over someone's very simple opinion. the fans of this band have every right to say whether or not they like the new sound just as much as others have a right to say that they like it. there is no need for people to take it personally and just simply insult one another

@TheAmicableMammal9 жыл бұрын
Matthew Cohn No, you're not the only one. That doesn't mean a lot of people wouldn't disagree with you. Like me. That 'first singer' - as you call him - is the legend Mikael Staane from Dark Tranquility. He has a far more 'character'ful growl than Anders in my view. And better cleans (Misery's Crown, anyone?) Anders sounds kind of whiny and weak compared to Stanne. and just kind of ... whispers his cleans? Kind of a cop out. I have pretty much every IF album, and DT too, so don't get me wrong, I love both bands, I just think Staane is the better singer. And early IF sounds like generic death metal???! WTF, Lunar Strain? I guess folky violin parts like on Hargalaten and Starforsaken is "generic death metal"??? When was the last time Cannibal Corpse did that? Hahaha! :P "They don't have as much melody in the old stuff"??? *What*, when they *used* to be *Melodic* death metal, you mean???! As opposed to 'modern groove/alternative rock', now? Educate yourself, dude!

This is my first time listening to this band. Somebody told me, listen to them, that's the new way of heavy metal. Now I'm listening and all I hear is pop music with a few guitars in the background. Sorry, maybe I'm just an old bastard who grew up on punk and thrash metal in the 1980s, but are all these new bands like that? Of course, I could switch through the vids, but it doesn't really seem interesting to me. I don't like death metal, but isn't this a bit too, well, pop-like? Back than we hated bands like Depeche Mode and now it seems like they are taking over the heavy scene. I don't want to be ignorant or something, I'm all for melodies, but where is the anger and the power of the counter-culture?

I guess that`s why Daniel left...too much Radio Pop

+Slears clearly man, IF has become soft and pop radio friendly

I like to think he (Anders Friden) changed the bands style due to his vocals not being able to keep up anymore, rather than his personal preference. But then again, Mikael from DT has kept their melodeath style going...

+Another Amorphis Fan Yeah but if at least the instrumental part was still as good as for Reroute, Whoracle, Clayman or anything, I wouldnt complain... but, i dont know, it is so weak know...
@dominic21968 жыл бұрын
MultiEneka Maybe he grew out of melodeath in a way. I think their newer albums are much more calmer and "relaxing" in a sense to listen to. I do miss their old stuff though. Especially TJR.

This song is one of their best. I LOVE In Flames - their old stuff, their new stuff. I seriously never understood why people get so bent out of shape "MAN THIS SUCKS WHERE IS THE OLD IN FLAMES!!!?" - it's called evolving. If you just like their old stuff, that's cool - you do you. I will continue to enjoy ALL of their albums. When I want some death metal I'll listen to Goliath's Disarm Their Davids or The Hive - when I want something a bit different I'll listen to this or Ropes. I had the pleasure of seeing IF in May. They played Moonshield....it was EPIC. Love this band.

This is an aged in flames. They're old men rocking out soft material. Metallica did it, their fans never bitched. You have to respect them for trying something different plus every album evolves.

THE RIGHT TO BEAR ARMS "Metallica did it, their fans never bitched" You must have somehow missed how just about everyone disliked St. Anger, and all the people saying Metallica sucks after they changed their sound.

THE RIGHT TO BEAR ARMS Me and everyone I knew bitched when the black album arrived and they had short hair. Then again i was young. Now, I enjoy music not because its heavy buy because its good. Bands change. They get older. If you dont like it then stop listening toa band after they make the first album.

In Flames is not dead. The only thing that is dead is your love for the band but you still seems to care about them because you make comments on their new songs. If you don't like them then just go away. This song and album is amazing. Its not their best but in my opinion, I like it more than Whoracle and Reroute To Remains. We shouldn't calles them ''Old'' or ''New'' IF. We should see them as one fucking good band from the beginning to the end.

as someone who actually liked Sounds of the Playground Fading listening to this new album it's painfully boring...
@cj3979 жыл бұрын
It is boring, unimaginative and pretty much lazy. Even the electronics like synth keys are thrown in randomly. Very poor effort this time around, in 2017 we'll see if they actually make good songs again.

you are aware that at some point the human body starts falling apart and you cant "growl and scream" as you once did... enjoy the art that is presented before you and try 2 comprehend that nothing but dedication keeps them going at this point.. their music might not be as good as it was a while back, but it's still them.. if u appreciate things that u dont really understand i highly recommend you Belphegor and Gorgoroth...
@dalgrim7 жыл бұрын
MrScientist90 any 4yr old can growl and scream. It takes talent to sing. There is a good reason that almost all bands move out of the screams: They learn how to sing!
