This is absolutely incredible! You truly are pushing the limits of this technique and making some wildly creative and interesting projects. This is just awesome! A hollow, steel, inflatable battle axe! What an insane idea that worked beautifully! I already thought you had skill and was excited to see what you would make, but this is just ridiculous. My expectations have been exceeded and I’m super stoked to see you continue making cool stuff.

Very Cool! Did you ever consider hydroforming it?
@ConnorHolland2 жыл бұрын
Thank you, air is faster and easier for pieces that don't need much force to inflate (100 psi or less)

I wonder if you could increase the weight and therefore cutting ability by filling it with water
@ConnorHolland2 жыл бұрын
I could fill it with concrete to increase the weight, which will also add strength to the thin metal, but for now I like it being light and manoeuvrable
@tiberiusmagnificuscaeser49292 жыл бұрын
@@ConnorHolland I suppose. I mentioned water because you could also remove the water whenever you wanted to transport it or cut lighter things, then put it back in for when you want to do something like chop wood. It would be difficult to do that with concrete.

@@tiberiusmagnificuscaeser4929 True, maybe fine dry sand would be better, so not to rust the steel from inside

try some expanding Foam! 🤗

Can hydroforming be done inside of a mold to impart an impression into the expanded metal?
@ConnorHolland Жыл бұрын
Yes, big expensive hydroforming machines are used to manufacture complex shapes like car panels and bike frames, I think there's a limit to the finely detailed impressions though

I wonder how structurally stable it would be if filled with insulating foam, may also reduce impact to hands and increase deformation resistance.
@imakedookie2 жыл бұрын
weight wise, it seems pretty efficient. however, i think the solid metal doesnt lend much to preventing energy transfer into the hands. could you produce a bit that is hollow but has a collet or some other way of fixturing the head to a modern fiberglass handle? you might even fill the head with rubber or polyurethane foam to deaden it. i love the ingenuity and the sound is hilarious!
@ConnorHolland2 жыл бұрын
I think most of the excess energy dissipates as sound and vibration in the head, and the foam wrap also helps prevent any discomfort. Good ideas, there's lots of potential for improving the design

@@ConnorHolland I was really impressed with how well it splits with minimal mass as well; however, if you could rib (or otherwise triangulate in 3 dimensions) the head and make it thinner, you would have a serious weapon as opposed to a splitting maul

Very cool Axe! that "plink" Sound resonating inside is kinda unnerving tho 😅 i wonder what effect it might have, filling this one with one of these expanding foams 🤔might give it a bit more mass & turn it into a mightier "thud" when hitting things!
