I am undergoing aggressive active treatment for cancer as young patient. It makes me sick to see monsters that take much needed resources and funds away from real cancer victims and instead make profit to get rich at our pain and expense. I had barely anyone contribute to my Gofundme. Cancer org didn't want to help. They care about influencers only. Real cancer patients like myself are left to face poverty just to stay alive and not become homeless from cancer treatments and medical leave from work

We are an absolute wreck over it. He still lives at home with my husband & I. The kid was never sick a day in his entire life, & started having pains in his lower back area, a few months ago, finding out he had large masses in his body. One on his kidney & another in his lung. They said it just must've happened so fast, that it metastasized. It's been the scariest time ever, in my life! He's actually handling way better, then any of us are. & he's the one going through it. I'd do anything in this world to take this away from him. Just so he wouldn't have to go through one more day of pain, or chemo, or have cancer, dammit! He does not deserve this! It makes me so mad. People who could fake an illness such as cancer, in my opinion, really must have major undiagnosed mental health issues. It has to be a form of munchausen syndrome, or something. Because, if you really had it, it's the last thing you'd be flexing for clout. But some people starve for attention, fame, & money. She lied to recieve money. That's literal theft. So she deserves her punishment. & she should be made to work at a cancer hospital or something, help in assisting the patients with their every need. Update on cancer girl as of November 2023: she has been sentenced. 100 hours of community service and she has to pay back a charity that gave her money. That’s it. That was her punishment. Because the PROSECUTOR argued that she had good grades.

Where I live judges DO take into account whether someone is a first-time or a repeat offender and also what their prognosis is. So if someone is a first-time offender and has a good social prognosis that indicates that they might not offend again (e.g. having good grades that allow her to find a job that will pay her money) could lead to such a sentence. Also, who said that the community service will not be in connection with a hospice or something like that? Where I live that would be completely reasonable and likely even. personally I don't think it's such a bad sentence.

I really wanna address the Mikayla thing. It was not about just mascara, if she is lying about this product then her entire review catalogue is now called into question. It's a matter of ethics and disclosure, as she was in fact sponsored by Loreal to post about that mascara which she did not properly disclose. If influencers or celebs are getting paid to talk about a product, they HAVE to disclose it's an ad VISIBLY, mainly by doing #ad or #sponsorship or w/e in the first bit of the description. If it's hidden/hard to find, that is not allowed. If it's an ad, it's obviously not going to be "honest", but it is required BY LAW to say it IS an ad.

The Makalya issue is that it was a paid advertisement for the mascara and she didn’t disclose it and then flat out lied about it. From what I hear it’s actually a decent mascara, but not life changing. The main issue is she’s getting paid to sell us these products, she’s breaking the law by not disclosing it and then lying about its performance. Respectfully, it isn't about the mascara, it's the fact that she lied and jeopardized other influencers. And the fact that she can't even come on camera and apologize is a huge lack of accountability that I don't mess with. Knew a guy years ago who lied about having cancer. He was actually just a drug addict. People put on a benefit concert with a bunch of bands, raffles, tshirts and all that. Raised a bunch of money. Someone volunteered to take him to the cancer center to give them the money for his treatments or whatever, and he literally walked out the back door with it and took off. Didn't take long for the bands and fans to find out and he went into hiding. He ended up catching someones boot to the face, instead of jail for it.

The issue with Mikayla is this: Idk about Canada, but in America, where Mikayla is from; she literally broke FTC laws. Laws were put in place against false advertising in the makeup industry. One specific topic is the use of falsies in ad campaigns. This MUST be disclosed on all ads. People think that a "sponsored post" is not an ad, when in fact, it is exactly that. So, not only was what she did ethically wrong, it was illegal. And Lo'real happily fed her to the beast called the internet and laughed about it all the way to the bank. Her coming back "unbothered" only makes her look worse. In fact, she's not "unbothered." She's trying to save herself. If she admits what she did, that's an FTC fine up to $50,120

I'm honestly confused why some people think it's okay to fake illness. Cancer is a serious thing. I watched a loved one slowly waste away because of lung cancer. Seeing someone you love slowly deteriorate to the point that they can't even speak, sleep or eat properly is painful. So painful that in the back of your mind, you would just think that death is better than suffering everyday with no hope for a cure. I hate those kinds of posts so much.

Yo, I know a guy who lied to all of us "his friends" about him having cancer. Showed us the paperwork and cried and we cried with him. It was awful...... found out later he lied through his teeth. I befriended a Doctor in his second year and told him about it. He was looking really confused and started asking question then looked me in the eye and told me bro lied to us. My lashes are long, curly and invisible without mascara; but with a good mascara, people ask me if they are fake. I have not ever even tried fake lashes but try lots of mascara and a good one does make a big difference.
