A helpful video, Thank You for providing = I finally managed to uninstall my F150 XLT 12" display - it took about 10 hard hours of labor this first time for the uninstall. Two additions I would like to mention for other if okay. 1) the APIM was below the screen, not behind so I did not need to remove the screen at all. But of course the radio and controls below the screen need to be completely remove and the APIM is directly behind the radio controls. 2) the latches on the pins are tricky and mysterious for the cables coming out of the APIM. The second to the largest black cable had a hidden latch you MUST move to the side. And, another hard to see latch on the blue round cable. Without squeezing these hidden latches the cables are non removable. CHEERS JS

You are a very good tech, this video is is one of the best if not the best I have ever seen with very thorough and careful procedures to disassemble and reassemble without breaking anything. Those metal insert clips always stick and break at least one of the plastic tabs for me.

I just ordered mine! i cant wait! quick question i see that the panel for the volume and climate control are not included would you happen to know the part number for it? im having a hard time finding just the panel without all the controls in them.

While you do have to remove the HVAC panel for the install it is not replaced. This kit will utilize the OEM HVAC and volume panel. A new one will not be needed the original HVAC panel is reinstalled as one of the last steps.

I watched another guy do a similar upgrade but he did not change out the APIM module. He did have to customize the harness so that it would plug in and also run a power line to the fuse box and add a ground wire but it seems to work without having to buy another module and save some $$$. Have ya'll tried that?

That is one of the first things we tried when developing this upgrade. However, depending on the software on the factory APIM, it may or may not work properly. So just to prevent that from occurring we include a pre-programmed APIM.

Was wondering if you could recommend the best web site to buy a replacement APIM. Especially including an accurate reprogramming included if I supply the seller my VIN number. Is this possible? Of course, I would like to avoid reprogramming the new APIM - for sure!

Great video, thank you. I ordered the kit from you and finished the install this evening. The issue I'm having now is the Backup Camera will not turn on. Screen goes black when I put the truck in reverse. I still see the icons for trailer hitch view and the auto brake - but no image. I have a 2021 XLT without the 360 cameras. I just have the backup camera. Any insights?

@@trenton4712 It was ridiculousyly easy to fix, It just wasn't listed anywhere in the instructions. I have an XLT with just a backup camera (no 360). The wire harness has a yellow RCA cable with male/female ends. Those 2 just need to be connected. The only remaining issue is the camera button no longer works when the car is parked.

Why is the pass through harness necessary?

Some pins change between the different screen sizes. Every Ford Upgrade we sell that has a change in screen size requires a passthrough harness of some kind.

The hardware that comes with the Ford packages are pre programmed to the VIN# to accommodate a plug and play install. So the video would be installing a pre programmed unit.

I have a '23 F150 STX 4X4 with the 8 inch screen and no 360 camera, just a backup cam. Do I need to upgrade my APIM before doing the screen still?

Yes the APIM modules are different between the 8" units and the 12" units. The module will have to be replaced.

Our OEM 8" to 12" upgrade is plug and play if you have Nav now. If not it needs a bit of onsite programming to get the Navigation working. Those who are upgrading from a non-navigation equipped system will require in-vehicle programming through our Remote Tablet Rental offering (sold separately). This will not apply to customers who have existing navigation within their 8-inch Sync 4 display or for customers who would prefer to not use embedded navigation featured in the 12-inch Sync 4 upgrade and to use navigation applications via Apple Carplay and/or Android Auto. Heyoooo, so i see this system is with installing Sync 4, i checked my XL 21 and it already has Sync 4, would i be able to just nab a display from a normal 12” and swap it that way? (From what i found online it seems most all the swaps are installing sync 4 but mine already has it. And i apologize if this isnt a question you answer)

This is the installation video for the plug and play package that we offer. The kit is meant to accommodate the conversion from an existing 8" Sync 4 display to a 12" sync 4 display. The content of the kit includes a pre programmed APIM module for the 12" display (different than the 8" Sync 4 APIM), the 12" Sync 4 display, and the wire harnesses. The wiring that comes with the kit integrates in to the existing wiring that the vehicle is equipped with to accommodate a plug and play install.

In this vehicle he is working on a vehicle with the floor mounted console as opposed to a seat which can be there instead. This is a full kit as well so you should have everything you need.
