Thank you for uploading this. It’s a masterpiece. Never zien Ingrid Bergman in a tv production. She is outstanding as ever as are the others. Real actors. A rarity these days.

Absolutely gripping. Enjoyed it immensely. Ralph Richardson had the best part. Hedda Gabler, Emma Bovary, Anna Karinina... women whose tragedy is that they weren't born a man. Thank you for posting.

Welcome. Glad you enjoyed it. Henrik Johan Ibsen ( 1828-1906) was a Norwegian playwright and theatre director. As one of the founders of modernism in theatre, Ibsen is often referred to as "the father of realism" and the most influential playwright of the 19th century, as well of one of the most influential playwrights in Western literature more generally. His major works include Brand, Peer Gynt, Emperor and Galilean, A Doll's House, Ghosts, An Enemy of the People, The Wild Duck, Rosmersholm, Hedda Gabler, The Master Builder, and When We Dead Awaken. Ibsen is the most frequently performed dramatist in the world after Shakespeare, and A Doll's House was the world's most performed play in 2006.

a fan of Ibson's plays brutally honest and an early "realist", one can't expect a happy ending........ poor Hedda , trapped by her own false romantic notions from the previous century and the false promises of the XXth.

Is there any possibility you can upload the movie "And baby makes three " its from 1949 and stars Robert Young and Barbara Hale. Thank you again for the excellent movie

Michael Redgrave received a nomination for the Academy Award for Best Actor for his performance in "Mourning Becomes Electra" (1947), as well as two BAFTA nominations for Best British Actor for his performances in "The Night My Number Came Up" (1955) and Time Without Pity "(1957). At the 4th Cannes Film Festival, he won Best Actor for his performance in "The Browning Version" (1951).

@@DonaldPBorchersOG 'Time Without Pity' is available on KZbin. Excellent Leo McKern is on it as well. 'Mourning Becomes Electra' too, but a very poor version, sadly. I don't know if it's watchable. Redgrave was also wonderful as the ventriloquist in 'Dead of Night.'

Days of great movie studios dying out, sold and renamed. Great directors and producers, aling with writers, the movie industry going out of business. Great actors took to doing television. Few films made in 60's through 1990's. By later times, studios changed hands and names.

Bergman was a beautiful woman, but Hedda should not be middle-aged. She should be somewhere around thirty to explain her power over men. Janet Suzman's video makes more sense of the character.
