Mairead NicIlliosa ,Nova Scotia,Canada This is a most remarkable story ..... of a people who seemed so true to their place of birth, family and culture. In watching this story I became totally involved in it . I felt and smiled with their happiness, and I would have loved to live on that island . At the same time ,I also, most of all, felt their struggles, the difficulties of those struggles and the sadness they endured in having to deal with that part of their lives. There is almost no explanation for the love that one can have for their birthplace , especially if it becomes also one's growing up place. There's one small word that explains it all best ..it's "Home". There's something special about "home" that I can not ever seem to explain. But the people of Inishshark Island exemplify all that it entails, especially the gentleman Tom Lacey who refused to leave on 20th Oct . He stayed to spend one more night at home. His story ,and the footage of him is electrifying. Each is an inspiring example of one's love of home and country. This is a story involving many human emotions........happiness, sadness, anger , forgiveness, love , even a hatred for the difficult decision to leave. It's all so understandable. A story very well presented about an island and its people who had music, love ,laughter and a strong work ethic combined with a belief in their God. Thank you to the participants who explained it all so well. Your faces and eyes told so much,as your voices explained your emotions. Thanks to all who made this story come alive in these videos. What is it about the place you grew up in that it never let's you go? Doesn't matter how many years go by, that one place will always pull you back. This is a beautiful, and informative video. Thank you. It shows all of us the importance of tradition, heritage and that we need to remember.
