Disclaimer for people who actually read the description: This video initially had a much different opening and ending, using the opening and ending from Initial D: First Stage, but apparently Avex disagreed, and my past 3 attempts at uploading this video have been blocked worldwide due to this. That's why the opening uses Initial D PS1 and the ending is a text wall.

I quite like the PS1 version of Initial D; Fair selection of unlockable cars and the fact it has two player splitscreen make it worth revisiting for me, plus I find the driving to be decent unlike the Saturn version. I have extreme stage on PS3 as well, got a nice deal on the Singaporean variant that has an English manuals, but the game is still Japanese.

Okay, so about the Saturn version: Yes, the emulator was broken. The game does actually have music. And this is more of a personal opinion, but I think the graphics on Saturn actually look really nice. It definitely captures the tone and art style of the anime. But another thing, you had the complete opposite opinion for the Playstation version, essentially praising it, when in all honesty, it looks like the cars on the two consoles handle exactly the same, with the only difference being the graphics. I'm sorry, but this didn't feel like a very fair review.

yeah i’ve realized much later after the fact that the saturn emulator i was using was hot garbage, but i’ll still hold that the psx game is better in every way. it’s possible the shit emulator also affected the performance of the saturn ver but i haven’t verified that regardless i still think the psx version kicks it’s ass in terms of graphics and controls, but i agree that it’s hard to see differences in video. you gotta play both back to back to truly get it imo

If just like to point out that the PSP is also region free, and that the PSP game can be imported for pretty reasonable prices on ebay How do I know this? My copy of Ridge Racer 3 is Australian, unlike me, an American. Went for Australian because it was like two bucks cheaper than buying from Europe

I don’t like any Initial D game except the PS1 one because the physics and car movements don’t look believable at all and they replays look like absolute shit. They should make an Initial D game for consoles/PC which has somewhat believable car movement and physics but still be arcade IMO
