Honestly because the camera has no fans I would look at a S5ii or even S5 or GH6 because the likely hood of over heating does increase

I’m Not pointing at you Matt….. I get it that people may be pissed about no hotshoe for a flash but I’m always blown away Sony is noted top for ON CAMERA microphones 😂 with all of today’s options… all of us don’t prefer to use on camera microphones as our best option. Or isolate ourselves to only Sony microphones 😅 There are so many situations that would be useless. I guess I would like Photographers to be absolutely honest, would you carry around with you…. and throw on a Flash Trigger and setup a Godox AD200 Flash as a Content Creator 😂. No you wouldn’t and LUMIX knew that conversation would have been even more awkward. The Internet Community would have been like, “What was LUMIX thinking when I could just buy a …. Instead” 😂 The truth is, people just wanted to go at LUMIX plan and simple.

One thing worth noting is - Lumix Lab App is Stellar! Im not familiar with the Sony app situation but you're right about MP4lite being a great codec for transferring videos to the phone. I put it in iMovie app to quickly stitch together short clips to create a mini-vlog and sharing it on chat groups... within minutes after I shoot. @Matthew what apps do you use for mobile edit?

I actually need to start learning more mobile app editing because I just edit everything in Final Cut or Davinci on my MacBook😂

@jonccwong haha well maybe one day I’ll learn CapCut or Final Cut will come to the phone. Honestly I would be down to do quick edits on Final Cut or DaVinci on the iPad but at that point it wild be the same as a laptop.

I have an A6700 and a S9. Like them both, but for video, the S9 IBIS is much better than the A6700 IBIS. LUMIX Lab is stellar compared to Sony’s Creators App. A6700 photos are sharper and it has excellent low light capability with the 15mm F1.8. The 20-70G F4 Lens is very nice, but so is the var aperture 20-60 LUMIX S lens. Very similar in image quality, but I prefer the LUMIX out of camera colors. I really like the LUMIX S 35mm F1.8. Record limits are a non-issue for me.

The S9 gives you a lot more room to grow, it's worth the extra 500 but still, wait for a deal if you have to. I mean, the IBIS alone is worth the extra 500!

​​@@lfcruzsierraIBIS, Luts and FF sensor make up for the 500 difference easily. Sure talking head creators might have a tougher time deciding, but general consensus is that the record limits weren't deal breakers for content people were trying to make whike reviewing

@@nickguzman1734 Indeed. I used it today for some interviews and even if I do see a scenario where the limit might be annoying...it's really such a non problem for 99% of things. If you need more than that, just get a S5II.

The S9’s record limits are wild in 2024. Just feels like an entirely unfinished camera.

@@fofopho i used it quite a bit for the past week and honestly I have had only one instance where I was approaching the 10 min mark. In real world use, it’s just doesn’t matter as much That and the camera did get fairly warm. Much warmer than the S5 (that also does not have active cooling). It never overheated tho

You are going to have more issues with the lack of IBIS than with record limits

frankly I haven't had to turn my camera vertical ever since open gate recording (for S5IIX and S9) 🤷‍♂

@@walrusgumboot Bad example, I am a photographer, replace "video" to "shooting vertically", and I don't use video was just example, I was trying to say is some cameras when you rotate the information rotates with it.

@@walrusgumboot I guess it's still 3:2 so you will have more pixels top to bottom. one thing tho, my mistake for thinking of this in terms of videos. for photos I can see why turning it vertical makes sense wanting a 2:3 image for example or a vertical XPan crop (which I've done) But for video, yeah openGate 6k is awesome for my use case I forget which video but someone did mention that if u shoot vertically the top/bottom frame is more distorted (more apparent in ultra-wide) so personally I've stopped doing vertical shooting (esp for video)

IBIS IBIS IBIS… that’s all that needs to said. Digital only Stabilization is 🗑️. The ZV is only a better option is you are going to have it stuck on a tripod

Gyro data in Catalyst Browse looks better than IBIS in many situations. Most people can't see a difference between gimbal shots versus handheld gyro footage in capable hands.

@@LakeHowellDigitalVideo nope, I owned the a7c and a74, catalyst browse is 🗑️, you have to shoot in very high shutter speeds for it to look decent, then you a still have to crop your image by 10-15% at least.
