Injured Seal Snarls At His Rescuers

A few grams of fishing line is responsible for a severe and painful injury on a seal's neck. The seal is still tiny, and his natural growth would have soon tightened the entanglement even more until his ability to eat and breathe is taken away completely. Despite the severity of his injury, he is ready to put up a good battle. His attitude is good news for us: he is strong and prepared to fight for his life.
As so often, we are amazed at how resilient our seals are. 🦭

That is just the thing about oceanic weather. It can change on a dime. Expect anything at any given time. But there is one certainty and that is that OCN will try to be on call 24/7 for the seals. Nasty Rabies reports take care. I know in the past that you have had to deal with Jackals in need of help too. Very uncommon but still.

Since OCN started, these seals have had more aerobic beach exercise than any seal population in the world! Doesn't seem to bother them that much - it's not like they all decided that Namibia isn't cool anymore and it's time to go to Australia...

Vultures, eagles, a few other birds, coyotes, javelinas (in AZ), possums, raccoons, armadillos (though mostly fruit, insects and eggs for them), skunks, wild boars and hogs, and probably a few others I can't think of at the moment...lots of "clean up crews" in the US. 😊
