This was a helpful tutorial. I haven't inked anything in several years, but when I used to do a lot of inking as a teenager, I thought each line I inked had to be one single pen line, no picking up the pen at all. & the end result was a lot of wonky lines that didn't quite connect. I'm glad I thought to watch a few tutorials this time.

The pigma sensei and micron pens are both by Sakura so if you want something like microns but cheaper get the pigma, you can get 4 pens and a mechanical pencil (costs $8 by itself) for a set for $6.50 or so they were my first set

I don't know if I'm just doing something fundamentally wrong, or whatever, but when I do my line art over my sketch(wait until it dries)and then erase the sketch it lightens the line art. It's probably really simple, and I'm just really stupid, but if anyone has any tips or solutions, that'd be great. Also, nice video! REPLY Alex Charlot

emi baumgardner it may be your pens. I find that my lapen does that and cheap ink, but microns dont as much. Same with nice ballpoints too

@mashmarshmallow72726 жыл бұрын
I'm probably late lmao. But it might be your pens or how the way you erase your outlines - if you erase was too hard it will lighten up your pen (Same applies when you're sketching and you erase stuffs on an area way too much,once you're lining it and erase the pencil marks it will lighten up).
@RevolutionaryLiger6 жыл бұрын
I'd really suggest getting a kneaded eraser and carefully lightening the entire sketch then inking, then you have less to erase after.

How smooth do the lines need to be? Whenever I try to outline with the micron pigma pens, no matter how steady my hands feel, the lines don't seem perfectly smooth... especially when looking really up close.

Is it okay if I just use a roller tip pen? It's a pen I've been using for a long time and it works really well.
@JelArts7 жыл бұрын
Hmm is a roller tip pen the same as a ballpoint pen? I love using those, they can get such a cool texture. The only thing you would need to check if it's waterproof if you plan on using watercolour with it or something.

Every vid on microns has them so dark and I just got mine today and it’s so not dark I feared that it would happen and it did am I doing something wrong? Idk if it’s because of the camera but when I use it I can see through it. I draw in the anime style so it needs to be sharp and dark and if I go over it again I just go off and it’s so frustrating. I think I’m just being impatient but it’s so just stressful. I love your video! Ü

For Sakura Pigma Sensei, Sakura is Sah-koo-rah and means cherry blossom (also a common Japanese female given name), and Sensei is Seh-n-seh-e, it's a way to address someone who is a teacher, doctor, ect., usually knowledgeable, and can be used as a honorific in Japanese (i.e. calling your teacher either Sensei or Uchida-sensei). When sensei is used as a honorific, it's very similar to our Mr./Mrs. but is culturally different. I'm not so sure about Marvy, but Uchida is U-che-dah, it's a common Japanese family name that means inner rice patty. I hope you learned something, thank you for the video. It really helped :)

So do these prevent the skipping?? because if I try to outline my work with just a pen it like gets stuck over the pencil if that makes sense so it'll come out in like scatter lines instead of one even stroke. And that just messes up the whole drawing I spent hours on 😂

Can you color in spaces with pens
@JelArts7 жыл бұрын
I would recommend brush pens or a pen with a very wide nib to colour in large areas. Or, liquid ink & a brush could work just well!

I love your style ;0; this was really helpful, thank you so much ! By the way, do you know what paper you're using? I'm using printing paper currently and it's kinda ... crap lol
@JelArts7 жыл бұрын
I'm pretty sure I used printer paper for this too, because I wasn't planning on colouring them! What kind of materials do you use? I could recommend some paper.
@nenechi4ever7 жыл бұрын
JelArts I mainly use pencils, sometimes paried with coloured pencils, but the colouring kind of looks uneven because of the textured paper. I was thinking about something smoother, but there's so much to chose from ;^;. Thanks for your reply ^^

Fan of Alita It’s your choice. I only use 5 ( 005, 01, 02, 03, 06, 08) because i’m to lazy to buy new ones. And if your wondering i use pigma fineliners. they last very long! hope this helped.
