Inkscape Tutorial | Draw a Banana using the Gradient Mesh Tool

This tutorial is intended for absolute beginners wanting to use Inkscape. It builds up in skills from the first tutorial showing how to draw a mango. Here, I show the procedure I use to create a vector out of a banana image. The methods used in this easy gradient mesh tool tutorial is perfect for getting a perfect vector image from any picture for all your designs.

Thank you for the video. Can you tell me how to make the mesh tool creating a frame following the outline of the original shape? The current method of rectangle and elliptical shapes only are just too limited. The handles for the mesh control points are just too messy to pull in. Just do a simple shape for a banana, like what you have shown is just too much. It's much better using something like Blender and map out a shape in no time (and enjoying the process), there are so much lacking in the set of tools. It would be much better if the tool have an option to create mesh following the original shape outlined, then it's just a matter of adjusting the colours to match. Also, can you tell me what are the differences between 'Mesh to Path' -> Patches and 'Mesh to Path' -> Grid, please? I just don't see any distinctions at all.

Thanks so much, great info, and I can finally use the mesh tool! Got a question. I see that you can add extra mesh lines by clicking on the line, but can you DELETE them? Every time I try I end up deleting the entire mesh, and I've put too much work in it to delete it. thanks again.

How do I turn on the circular/triangular handles when using the gradient mesh tool? In Inkscape version 0.92 there is an option to toggle it on/off in the tool control bar but in the newest version 1.1.1 I have no clue how to turn it on.

On coreldraw, the gradient mesh is shaped inside the object and follow the contour of the object by default (while inkscape give me new square to edit it again) but using CorelDraw's gradient mesh sometimes has problems, for example the number of object nodes that you create must be even. and sometimes the contours that auto-form aren't where I expected them to be.

Hey, I have never tried to export to AI, but I think you could do that by exporting first to a PDF or some other common vector formats and opening the new document in AI
