Inline Skating Down Katy Trail in Dallas Tx

Awesome skating. Thank you for not putting music over the video. I appreciate being able to hear the environment. Your skates make a...unique sound. Like metal grinding on metal. Is that normal? It sounds different on the video than dry bearings.

I think that what you are hearing is a combination of electronic noise from the mic on the 360 camera and the sound that reverberates out of the frames themselves when the wheels roll. The camera has a firmware feature that automatically tries to block out the sound of the wind blowing into the camera. I tried to correct this a bit in post, but electronic noise is difficult to get rid of.

I believe you are hearing the characteristic sonic profile of the Arc frames. They have a very high pitched resonant frequency due to the stiffness of the structure. When you get air flow through the long channel it all creates that sound you hear. Frames with solid side walls tend to have more of a "tone" than frames with cutouts. More flexible structures will have lower pitched tones.

Back in the day, I was on a speed skating team...we all used the 5 wheels. Not anymore though, I'm to old lol...I stick to quads now. Looks like a great place to skate!!

I prefer to position the frame (5x84mm) in the front as much as possible. It seems more stable this way.

Hi, which parking lot is this? I usually park at the Trader Joe’s nearby and walk to the trail but I would love to park right near the trail

The parking lot you see in this video no longer exists. It was right next to the David’s Way entrance of the trail near the corner of Knox and Henderson. It was destroyed shortly after I shot this video. Not sure what they are developing in its place.
