Today on InlineFour's all access we do a 3 part dyno test comparing a factory air box, CT-Engineerings Ice Box, and that Ice box w/ a tune on our brand new USDM Integra Type R engine.

I have this intake for my DC2 Type R. It seriously is so loud and strong when I use VTEC. Even with my stock muffler, I've been told how loud my C5 is at WOT with this intake.

this setup is very similar to the ram-air system I built for my 97 prelude, only the entire thing cost less than 50 bucks ! not counting the ebay cai. I took out the black plastic thing out from below the turn signals, I got a heater ducting from home depot, along with aluminum tape, and a flex pipe for a dryer. I cut the duct down to fit the opening, ran the dryer hose up through where the stock airbox was , up through the inner fender and up through the body to below the airfilter (cone with front entry) and sealed the dryer pipe to the front of the air cleaner. I also got a screen mesh, it was for stucco, also from home depot. no cel, runs great. and never a drop of water near the air filter, there's two bends that prevent water from traveling. anyway, I put the mesh over the entry, so it looks kind of like a after market front bumper. I must have done something right cause I constantly get compliments on it, and they usually ask where to get a front bumper like that. :) it's all stock except that, a magnaflow muffler on stock exhaust, and springs to lower it 2 inches. the only thing I've raced so far is a f-150 with a 5,4l. I beat him by 1 length. and yes haters I know it's a big truck, but it also has tons of torque, compared to the stock h22a4

In my case it actually fits pretty tight because of a 'slight' incompatibility of the ice box itself and large billet Innovative engine mounts. The Ice Box has a mounting bracket thats saposed to be sandwiched between the transmission bracket and one of the bolts. The OEM piece is a thin piece of pressed metal, but the innovatives are thicker, as such the ice box has a ever so slight, 'bend' do it in my civic, and actually helps make it seal better.

Yesir. The filter is designed as a drop in filter for all Integras.

Dont forget though, The CT upper box has a smooth/larger opening into the fitler area. If you check out our intake section on the site, we sell the ice box by it self, as well as the drop in filter too.

interesting to note that the factory air box made the most torque at under 4k rpms, something to consider if a car is going to be daily'd often

Yes the box will I have seen that done so long as its an Integra filter. As far as which is better, I have not done any back to back testing, I just personally prefer the CT-Uni style filter for its ease of use and overall integration/velocity stack design (i.e you can run the ice box with stack only and no filter, but still have the box closed for heat insulation.

I love the factory air box look! Gaining 6hp though is only 4% increase and I have heard that you can't really feel the difference unless it is at least 10%

5.8 whp gain from just the Icebox is impressive. 18.2 whp gain with the Icebox and the tune is impressive for a B series and definitely something which would be felt. I'd love to see what it could make with an efficient header + exhaust to go along with the other two modifications.

both itr and ct are good and better than the d14 intake system. personally i had the itr box modded on my b18 switched to a custom length intake took a pvc pipe and cut 1'' at each pass on the dyno at the end i added a vibrant velocity stack and a kn filter among with a ram air feef to the filter.. to prevent heatsoak from header and radiator i made a custom heatshield car made 202whp on a dyna pack same dyno as yours ct box and mugen box are 2 very good options for people who cant go custom /

Please remember, this is a C5 swap into a civic chassis. There simply is no way to fit an Integera air box into the engine bay. The OEM airbox we used was not the SOHC one, but was actually the DOHC EK4 box. Which is the same part number as the EK9 set up. This is the beauty of the CT-E set up, they have modified and adapted an ITR style assembly that bolts into the Civic chassis. For people with swaps like this, the CT-E IceBox is a great 'hybrid' intake solution,.

Great video bruh...do you have videos of your 250hp B16?,i ...we would love to see..what type of material is in the clutch pads?..kevlar? and what brand of bearing did you use for your B16?

so what exactly did you use? is the 99-00 icebox/filter assembly 3" so with a itr arm it will all be bolt on? i just did a itr swap on my ej8 and this is the intake i wanted to go with another question will the oem itr arm fit a 70mm throttle body? -Civic Si IceBox -ITR Filter and Velocity Stack/Adapter -ITR intake arm?

18hp for a tune and intake is pretty nice for a Naturally aspirated application. But then Honda heads flow well so it's to be expected.

It would be a tight fit. The ITR arm tapers to 62mm... and it would be a bit of a stretch to slip it over a 70. For an EJ8 it is (99-00 Si Ice Box) + (94-01 Integra Drop in) + +ITR elbo. We have a configuration like this for sale already bundled in the description.

:N watching this video and hearing the companies foundation I looked up the company for getting an drop in air filter for my s2000. I'm personally turned onto the foam because its filter properties and low restrictions.. I wanted mugen, they have a foam jacket and wire mesh underneath for $200. CT provides my foam filter fixation for $60 w/high flow stack. I'm ordering one right now! fk my POS K&N that came with the car! I don't want to be the minority of people that have K&N and think it's the best for there Honda.

At the time, it had Skunk2 60mm Megapower with a Test pipe. Later I had custom HyTech 2.5" twin loop made by John @Hytech for me. Sure it made less power, but it meant i could romp on it all the time and it was WAY more fun on the daily.

The ice box itself will bolt on just fine (just chose a 99-00 Si unit) The only variable is the intake arm. Based on the size/location of the SOHC intake manifold/throttle body the ITR unit may or may not work. We've yet to field test this arrangement. But its definitely do able.

@@thebravoconnection946 That's crazy you say that, because I follow that group on fb and searched the other day and somebody posted an install for the ct engineering icebox! They used the civic si 99-00 one and it bolted down.

only 150hp at the wheels for a real type R engine? wtf stock B18C1 should be putting 150 up at the wheels. b18C JDM type R or b18c5 usdm should be pushing 170-180 hp!

Well...what can I tell you. This is what a brand new stock B18C5 does... I should know, I was the one there who did these videos, built it, and put it on that dyno... so I guess what you've seen on the internet is wrong? Cause this is real

Compared one setup to another that's the only way numbers matter , just like in this video . every dyno is different , some do wheel , hub , flywheel reading . somes work on DIN correction method while the other read on SAE . Sometime weather is cold with high atmospheric pressure , and the other day it's hot and rainy /foggy . sometimes people do dyno run with hood open , sometimes not . etc... etc... etc ... But here is one fact , most Honda engine do not output claimed HP even in perfect condition ! EUDM DC2 get 170-175hp DIN @ flywheel for 190 claimed , as it goes for EG6/EK4 with 145-155 for 160 claimed , and the most know S2000 with 210-215 for 240 claimed . But hey wo give a fxxx ? That airbox is definitly a good improvment and this video is well made , that's what people need to focus on . well done !

fabrice kiehl Arlen here responding (blond guy on video) I have to admit. Your numbers of actual measured HP vs paper numbers are dead on. When we did a well maintained stock B16A, even with tune it was 142. GSRs on stock tune did 145. Even a “200hp” prelude H22 did a messily 145hp on that Dyno. Whole point of this test we did was to show actual number gains on the exact same car, same day, with real world results. Final numbers don’t mater, but the change and improvements we made not only in peek power but also throughout the curve and Daily Drivability that do.
