Okay so @"it's a skill issue" - the guy in this video is easily one of the best trail riders in all of the lower mainland. So when he says that one wheel makes something a little easier I think the rest of us should take note.

Thanks for updated review. I appreciated that you took the time to tune the settings and took it on the trail. I didn't buy mine to ride the street, in fact i avoid it whenever possible on my commute. The V14 does hold back, the power assist is very unsatisfying and mechanical. It changes pedal angle in a slow and linear pattern. Instead, the assistance should be more responsive and kick in faster if you apply more torque. I find it most usable at 75/75. Inmotion should redesign its torque profiles from scratch. I think it would make the wheel feel more responsive and also probably address stability and climbing feel as well. I'm pretty sure the motor itself has the raw power. Maybe I have weak legs or something but I like the squirrelyness. Feels like what I'm used to a 16" wheel feeling. When i get on anything bigger I lose confidence im not going to steer right into the next wall

This wheel is confusing or maybe its just quality control cause Zenlee did one review where he cant stop praising its "effortless torque" like it was the easiest thing to climb with. So i think you might have vastly diffrent wheels. Either way, thanks for the info; lynks seems to be the way to go.
@gabinator11779 ай бұрын
I'm also a vastly different rider so our experiences not matching up might not be a function of the wheel at all. But I can say that everyone else around me who's tried the V14 has noticed the low end sluggishness, especially when compared to the Patton, Extreme, and Lynx.

Agree about 16" wheels not being as stable off-road as the next size up. Yes, skill will help, but I still prefer a slightly bigger diameter tire and this is after 300+ miles of trail riding the Patton vs. about 1K on the Master.

If the wheel is batch 1 and not upgraded/fixed the slider issue, the suspension will be stiff and not perform well
@mr.e-wheel8 ай бұрын
Correct me when I’m wrong guys…. Zen Lee said, V14, S22 type of suspension are easier to maintain than Leaperkim’s wheels, but very often main problem are the sliders not the shocks itself, this is why I think even thought the maintenance of oil suspension is complicated for most riders is unnecessary for a lifetime use (4-5 seasons).

I will not buy a suspension wheel until Chinese manufacturers offer something like the quality offered by Fox, Rockshox, Manitou, Magura etc. That means better design, quality wiper seals and low friction coatings on the Stanchions and full ballracing of any trunnion/rocker assembly. Chinese suspension is garbage in comparison to Japanese/German efforts. I will stick with non suspension wheels for a few more years until the quality improves, which I’m sure it will eventually.

@@matf4505 Probably the OG Sherman as I like to ride single track and canal towpaths so like a slight bias towards off-road wheels and knobbly tyres. I also like the connected feel of rigid wheels even though they are more fatiguing. They force you to be a better rider and pick better lines so it’s more challenging.

This is great to hear! I can now wrap my head around owning a V14. The delay on the torque sounds like it could be solved with a firmware update? Between this, the Patton and the Lynx and Extreme, I think my real question and/or concern is the upkeep of the suspension. Currently, the Patton and the ShermanS need maintenance every 6 months minimum, which is no easy task. I'd be curious to know how hard it would be to upkeep the V14 suspension.

Everyone who tested the V14 at our shop found it felt squirrelly for a “16 inch” wheel. Riding is subjective but none of us found it crazy stable. I found the T4 and Extreme much more stable than the V14.

This is why YT reviews shouldn't be considered gospel for buyers its purely a guy or girl that usually is biased or hasn't had enough experience on a wheel ;)

@@eevees that’s like picking sticking with the beginner mode for handling in gran turismo, you can’t pitch as hard at the knees , from a physiology standpoint, the aforementioned wheels are higher up. Don’t require the same level of proprioception to manage as the v14. A CRX is easier for the average person to be a race car driver , doesn’t make the civic better than an f1 car.
@eevees9 ай бұрын
Reviewing wheels is subjective. When comparing the V14 to the Lynx or Patton (two of our favorite wheels), we found the Lynx and Patton to overall be more torquey and stable but as mentioned in the review, we liked that the V14 didn’t bottom out. It’s funny because people get upset us when we praise a wheel too much and then we have minor critiques and people get all upset. We’re a dealer selling these wheels. People should be happy that we’re giving our honest opinions. I also want to add that Gabe is one of the best riders in Vancouver. It’s not completely a skill thing - he’s just being humble.
