I am a single digit handicap who is self taught. I have watched tons of videos. This is the best golf explanation l have ever heard. It is the key to the golf swing. For one end of the golf club to go down the other end must go up. This is done with body turning left as you swing up and left (exiting left ) Tks Steve

I am a novice golfer. I've tried other techniques I found on KZbin and from PGA instructors but nothing has gave me more confidence in my game then practicing the techniques In your videos. I appreciate you taking the time to make them and it's helping me gain a lot more confidence and control in each swing in my game. Subscribed.

Steve, I notice your incredible foot work on the first slo mo. During your swing your right foot moves behind you to a closed stance then your left foot actually hops forward and open towards the target. Perhaps you could do a video explaining the effect this has on your weight shift and ultimately how it effects where the low point in your swing occurs. Thanks

Steve, Thank you for your continuing efforts to help us hit the golfball longer and straighter. Can you comment on the notion of rolling the ankles while swinging through the stroke? Jack Nicklaus in his book Golf My Way mentions doing excercises for this when learning to swing in his younger get years. Are you familiar wit the concept? Did Mike Austin mention ankle rolling in your work with him? Jack said it helps to use the legs in his swing. I am trying to understand it. Keep up your good work. You are truly a blessing to many of us trying to improve our golf swing. Cheers, Mike
@Inmotion702 жыл бұрын
Yes the rolling in of the ankles is paramount in making the hips and knees work efficiently.

You are correct. It is my opinion that hitting down on the ball is a myth. You would have to hit above center to do so. Your hands may be going in a downward path but contact is below center with the club traveling forward under center striking with upward loft. It is a different way of understanding the reality of the swing. Thank you.

@@Inmotion70 that seems like me. I tried it last weekend and hit some good shots, in my garage yesterday it didn’t feel right and the only thing I can think of is that in the garage I was taking the club more down the target line and ending up with a more vertical swing which made it too hard to go up and left. I’ll experiment. Thanks for this video, please feel free to make a another video where you go into a bit more or “crazy detail”. Thanks for what you share!!

@markpoppe86813 жыл бұрын
What I've noticed is how your left foot changes position at the top of your backswing. The result is your left foot is way open, allowing your hips to finish square to the target. Can you discuss that? I open my stance, but not to that degree. I see many players who seem to put alot of strain on their left knee. For my part, if if use the conventional wisdom, my knee starts to scream and I can barely walk after 11 or 12 holes. It really looks like a critical component of your swing. Looking forward to your response.
@michaelkrailo57253 жыл бұрын
So your saying, after the ball has been struck already to apply even more force into the shaft to create a swoosh after impact? That doesn't even make sense. If I try to accelerate the shaft past follow through, I spin out miserably and fall out of balance. I guess this is an advanced drill. Another thing is that you used that training aid with the ball already preset at the end of the shaft, what if you slid it back up near the grip and did this motion? Would the ball on the shaft not shoot out near or slightly past impact? I would think the swing is over at that point since all the energy has gone out of the shaft and the ball is long gone already. So the momentum from the strike glides into the finish from there. UPDATE: OK, I just tried this again and now see that it is the right arm that really feels like it swings out there straight. I was focusing on the left arm which screwed up my balance. Is this correct?
@Inmotion703 жыл бұрын
Listen again. The top speed IF THERE WAS NO BALL should occur 30 inches after. The collision with the ball slows it down about a third so in that case the fastest speed will be 1/100" before impact.
@michaelkrailo57253 жыл бұрын
@@Inmotion70 I'm going to have to pick up one of these speed swoosh's and work with it. I understand what your saying now about making up for the collision of the ball. I really love how your tips and over all golf instruction is improving my swing. The biggest improvement for me is the lower body pivot with proper foot work and finally realizing that if I miss to the right, it is almost always due to my head not staying back properly. Some one suggested to keep the left ear behind the ball skyward and suddenly, my ball striking started to improve for the better. I don't have a lot of time to practice so I have to just do a lot of drills and shorter shots with a sand wedge or other clubs into a net. I have things going straight at the slower speeds but only get it out there about 70 or 80 yards so if I can't even get past 100 with the sand wedge I pretty much know I won't have much separation between the other clubs. Just need more work, I know. My backswings tend to be too long or collapsing at the top when I look at video of the swing.
