Hey Tony what was the issue with the Kuiu tent on first purchase?
@tonygillahan4 жыл бұрын
Carbon poles snapped after something blew into the tent in very high winds. Kuiu were awesome though and replaced the tent and gave me aluminium poles instead of the carbon and haven't had an issue since 👌

@@tonygillahan yeah ok, I have the same tent, but haven’t been able to use it due to C19. I have the carbon poles as well. Hope they last a little

@@doytbag they will last mate, only reason mine didn't was because something blew into the tent, that was no fault of the tents

Good insight on what food you carry for a hunt. I generally pack too much and end up using a lot of my water for cooking. I'll certainly be rethinking my approach for the next one. Thanks for sharing mate!

Tim Murphy no worries mate. My approach isn't for everyone but on overnighters it sure saves a lot of space and weight in the pack 👌

Yep, I started off packing everything but the kitchen sink, now I'm much more of a minimalist. Too much gear takes away what you are actually out there for I find.

Nice recap of your gear list! How often do you get out after the Sambardi (maybe spelled wrong)?

Great video mate. Loved the logic of what you are about. I've tried the 1.5L water a day but find its too little for me. Absolutely agree on the 3/4 sleeping mats! They are not the best! Great Sambar in the background mate. Thanks again.

Jonathan Davies thanks mate. Yeah water varies on the weather for me, in hotter months it's normally 2lt per day 👍 haha yep those 3/4 mats are horrid!
@jonathandavies29316 жыл бұрын
the only good thing for a 3/4 mat is to put it over another thin one... but why when you can get a good one to start with and its heaps lighter. look forward to more vids mate.

Its durability, strength, how it fits, what bits did you get with yours, does it squeak, are they are as good as they say they are - is probably the bottom line i suppose mate

good stuff tony - interesting outlook on food/eating. I think that (not taking food) works for over-night trips, but for a week long trip will you still only take non-cookable food items? In my student days I used to just take a packet of rice, a sachet of gravy and a red onion and then just kill a meat animal on the hunt and eat that. Good luck with your competition. ps. LOVED the sambar trophies in the background!

MountainMan HuntingFilms most of my pack hunts are only 2-3 dayers due to work constraints, so the way I deal with food works for me but certainly wouldn't be practical for every scenerario. I also generally don't camp near water, which is another big factor in the no dehydrated meals and cooking system because whatever water I'm taking, I'm taking to drink, not to cook with 👍 Hopefully I'll get a few longer pack hunts in this year so I can fine tune my approach for them as well.
