LOL. Yeah, you guys stepped in it a bit. One of the all time greatest bands with some pretty timeless music. No worries. Obviously you're entitled to your opinion. Don't sweat it. They're prog rock, consummate musicians and poets, and the album is their main art form. Tracks and touring are part of the business, but their concert performances are only homages to their albums, all of which are boundary pushing. It isn't pop, mostly, meant to be thoughtful and insightful more than uplifting. Mostly it's meant for a darker temperament of life experience, but they often hit on something more universal.
@audiofile88338 күн бұрын
Don't sweat it. You know, it's kind of like Bohemian Rhapsody. Hearing it live is one thing. But as I'm sure you'll agree, hearing it in its album form is quite another. The album version should really be taken in context with the album. Pink Floyd's "The Wall" is that album. And Pink Floyd's "The Wall" is also a movie, and if you wanted, you could do a movie reaction to that. But, if that isn't doable, maybe just stream it. It'll give you a much keener insight into the song and the album as a whole. You won't regret it. David Gilmour is the lead guitarist, and he's one of the best in the world. I mean, he joined Pink Floyd in 1967, so he's had some time to get pretty good at what he does. Pink Floyd formed in 1965, by the way. They've been around for a while. 😀

PLEASE use headphones! This is the only way to fully recognize Pink Floyd. "Comfortably Numb" begins deliberately slowly, it indicates the illness of Pink Floyd singer Roger Waters before he is injected with medication by the doctor. He was in severe pain before a concert many years before. That is the story behind of this song. Only then he becomes comfortably numb and the guitar and this music explodes. Pink Floyd is one of the best rock bands in the world, maybe even the best. David Gilmour is the Grand Master. And please: Do not interrupt a guitar solo. The concert was in London "Earls Court" with about 15000 visitors.

@yelnikigwawa1845 ... respectfully, I think you are mostly wrong. Try listening to the radio broadcast from 1979 where Rog talks through the whole album track-by-track and se if you still think that. The film came later and was subjected to a degree of artistic license to make it work better as a film - it is not the definitive source. The radio broadcast was archived and is easy to access if you care to.

I think you need to listen to some more Floyd and please wear headphones to get the full effect. When you do, then come back to Comfortably Numb. Pink Floyd were probably the best live band in the World. The Pulse concerts watched by over 5million people worldwide were the best live music performances ever. But check out some albums as well. Other people have called it one of the greatest performances ever recorded…but you didn’t care for it. Okay. You’re being honest~Fair enough. IMHO, you’re victims of the musical desert in which you grew up. Modern music is programmed, not composed. No musical talent is required today AT ALL to “write” music, to sing it, to program it on a machine, since Autotune makes every singer, every instrument sound perfect. Lyrics don’t matter now, it’s all about the beat. Today’s music is all you know, and today’s music is pretty thin compared to what came before. Hey, I’m being honest, too.

Roger is the greatest poet. And the "lead singer" Richard Wright RIP an electronic musical genius. Its all good guys. You seem to know what you have to do. We all saw that glimmer of a light globe go off in your heads. Your enlightenment has begun. ICE-T with Bodycount do a version. For that to happen is a miracle. This music is sacred.

Pink Floyd is NOT a singles kind of band. They were a concept band. Listening to the work in it's entirety, reading the lyric sheet would likely help as well. They were renowned for live performance--light years ahead of any other band. This tour--the lighting and staging (alone) cost 25 million--in 1994 dollars. They were not rock stars--they were musicians. They wanted the audience to experience the music. You could do an entire series on their catalogue. BTW, this is considered the best guitar solo in rock.

This was in 1994, btw. 2009 was when they "re-mastered" it. The entire Pulse show was amazing. Pink Floyd was formed in England in 1965. All in all, the tour required 700 tons of steel carried by 53 articulated trucks, a crew of 161 people and an initial investment of US$4 million plus US$25 million of running costs just to stage. I take it that this is your first experience with Pink Floyd. This particular video is from a concert that has become iconic. Comfortably Numb is one of those songs that many fans feel, makes that concert complete. The solo by David Gilmour here has to be one of the best ever recorded live. Pink Floyd was unique. Other rock bands that were around back then, like Led Zeppelin, had styles that were a bit different. Rock music had many facets. Pink Floyd's music and lyrics dealt with human emotions and life experiences. Their albums were meant to be heard all the way through, without interruption. They told a sort of story. If you get a chance to hear an album like Dark Side of the Moon from start to finish, I think you'll understand what I mean. Put on headphones, dim the lights, sit back and close your eyes, and really listen. With your ears, and with your spirit.

Alongside The Beatles and The Stones at that time. Their parents didn't consider their music "real music" either. So let's just not go down the same path as our own parents and judge new stuff the same way our own parents judged OUR new stuff. That is fundamentally hypocritical, is my point. And no attack meant on you personally.

@@danastordalen623 I think we're talking somewhat past each other here. Maybe. And you maybe right that they will feel differently when they're older. And by that logic I - who grew up with this masterpiece of a song - might end up hating it when I grow even older than I already am. I find that highly unlikely, but you're right. Maybe that can still happen. My main argument with you, in all respect, was the use of the term "real music" and "yet". As if age is a meter for qualifying to know "real music", whatever that means. Pink Floyd wrote a lot of their best stuff when they were half my and a third your age. So who are we to come and say to those young Pinky Floydies that those kids know too little about "real music" because of their age? I love Pink Floyd and I can tell that we both share that passion ❤ I also love Kris Kristofferson, Nick Cave, Bruce Springsteen, Rage Against the Machine, Tupac, Iron Maiden, NWA, Motörhead, Ice Cube, Johnny Cash, Johann Sebastian Bach, AC/DC and Jospeh Haydn. My appreciation for some of them has grown with time, for sure. But what feels condescending to me is the sentiment of "one day you will understand. You're just a kid". As if it is a universal "truth" or fact that everyone will end up liking Pink Floyd once they just "grow up". That's how I took your message, and is the sentiment I disagree with (to the extent that that was what you meant to say, of course). Because I have listened to J-Lo on the radio involuntarily for 25 years, and I still don't get it 😄 Sorry for this long rant! Peace ✌🏼

It’s good to see you react honestly. Pink Floyd is a psychedelic band. Most of the people in that audience are high on something. Their music is unique and transports the listener to another space. I’m seeing that you are getting a lot of live performances as your first viewings of many bands, and while those are cool, back in the day, musicians often improvised and played their songs a bit differently every time they performed live… so they’ll vary compared to what they did in the recording studio that got them on the air initially. To give these bands’ music the best shot, I honestly recommend looking up their MTV videos (like you did for the BeeGee’s “Staying Alive”). That’s the baseline. Then at the live concerts the variations won’t be as off putting to your ears because you’ll know the songs. Hopefully that makes sense. This was not Pink Floyd’s best performance of this song. So fun to watch you two encounter all these legends for the first time!

OK guys here you go so the band is called Pink Floyd but this particular song happens to be about a musician named Pink Floyd who is burned out from traveling on the road from going night after night town after town same performance over and over and he’s burned out and he’s become checked out and comfortably numb one of the voices. The guy on the keyboard is like the tour manager and they get a doctor in there trying to get through to him and then they give him a shotwhen they say “just a little pin prick might make you feel a little sick” to try to give him energy to go out and do the performance … the lead singer and guitar player sings in the voice of Pink Floyd talking about being numb….and then when that goes into the long lead guitar section that’s the actual performance

Pulses, this concert's album, has one of (maybe THE) best covers ever. It has tiny leds, which really work, and they pulses

The song was written by the lead guitarist, David Gilmor about when he was a child and had a fever.

First found your channel with Queen Live Aid. Excellent choice. But then I had to look for Pink Floyd. Pink Floyd tells stories with their music. Once you dive deeper into their music the feeling of the song makes a lot more since. It's a bitter-sweet understanding that this song is second to last at the Pulse concert. After reading some of the other comments that others left; I do hope, as you both continue your journey into Pink Floyd, that you do realize there are some rules to listening to Pink Floyd. And those are... 1. HEADPHONES!!! No spoilers, but there are some crazy things that they do with sound that you will miss using only standard speakers. No joke. 2. NEVER pause a David Gilmore solo. It's just wrong and if you let the man play your ears, heart, and soul will thank you. 3. Listen to the full albums before you listen to individual song. And you definitely need to listen to the albums before you watch anything from the Pulse concert. It's just that, at least in my opinion, the 1994 Pink Floyd Pulse Concert is one of the most amazing shows ever put on, period. You don't need to listen to all their albums in order to appreciate the Pulse concert. All you really need is their stories, their conceptual works, focus on their most thematic albums. Start with - 1. The Dark Side of the Moon 2. Wish You Were Here 3. Animals 4. The Wall 5. The Final Cut 6. The Dark Side of the Moon again. 7. Then watch the full Pulse concert. You can watch the full show on You Tube and it will blow your minds. I look forward to your future post and your journey into Pink Foyd.

I'm a new viewer to the channel and i love seeing yiur reactions! If you like this may i suggest looking up "goodbye blue sky" by link Floyd as well? ❤️

I seriously doubt they'd like Goodbye Blue Sky (which I call the most hauntingly beautiful song ever). Their words about what they just witnessed.. "this song wasn't written well."

This song requires headphones and blindfolds, one of the best guitar solos ever, a little wisdom from a 55 yr old long hair rocker 🤟👍

Yeah, you missed something. You don't just listen to Pink Floyd music, you experience it. You don't dance to it, you feel it. Try some more, there's lots, and plenty of that (world famous) guitar you like. Re-read your description and take it easy. Your music reaction videos are fun and I hope you continue.

Nah guys... you messed this one up. You need to learn to have patience. Jesus... And still talking while the song is already 10 seconds in is just crazy.

You don’t understand what you are listening to. Relax . Pink Floyd songs take you on a journey so don’t overthink it. Songs start out slowly and build to a climax. Watch the visual effects and listen to!

You guys need to understand Pink Floyd is a vibe experience and their albums are meant to be played beginning to end in order with headphones. They each tell a story and set the mood. Only when you've experienced that will you get it. Also NEVER INTERUPT A GUITAR SOLO, especially when you're listening to one of the GOAT. Try Pink Floyd's album Dark Side of the Moon and you will forever be changed. The album was on the charts for almost 14 years.

That is a poor intro versus the album. I think they think talking throughout the video is the etiquette. Learning curve.

Welcome to Pink Floyd!! 💗💗Quite possibly the greatest band that's ever been. I hope you keep listening. You really can't go wrong with anything from the albums Meddle on through to The Division Bell. Don't let the long ones dissuade you, they all leave you wanting more. For a representative selection of their music to start with, give these songs a listen: Hey You, Have a Cigar, Wish You Were Here, Time, Money, and High Hopes. 🤘🏽🎸🖖🏽 Edit: A lot of PF's songs are in that slow pocket, but it's not about speed. Give the song Sheep a listen, it's hard as a mf. David Gilmour doesn't play fast because he doesn't need to. He can bring you to tears with a single note. Pink Floyd is highly emotioal and cerebral music that you just have to surrender to. 💗

David Gilmour is a guitar master. The more you listen to Pink Floyd, you will appreciate how great their music is , be patient with their music . If you want more guitar ( heavy rock) check out shredder Nita Strauss songs Dead Inside and The Wolf You Feed. You will not be disappointed she’s 🔥🔥🔥🔥.

Pink Floyd is not about instant gratification they spend time putting you into the right place mentally for each part that follows the lead guitarist is also the vocalist and this concert was from 1994 it was at Earls Court London and was there for 14 night with approx 20,000 audience each night. Fun facts:- to power their gear it took 233,000 watts of power, the had three complete stage setups one in use, one on being de rigged from previous venue, and one being rigged at next venue …and that cost $ 98,000,000 Gilmour and Mason both sold their personal jets to help fund it and when the lighting techies asked is there a lighting budget? The reply from Pink Floyd was …yes!
