If an officer ever calls fire rescue in front of a hospital not only should they pay that bill but they should be sued by the city on behalf of taxpayers. These officers are not going to learn until they start paying for their mistakes.

Several months ago my gf was having a medical emergency. We were about 5min from the medical center so I decided it would be faster than waiting for ambulance. There was about 3-5 lights between us and the hospital. I ran through the first one (it was night time and I could clearly see no other crossing cars). The officer parked nearby I didn't even see turned his lights on. I pulled over and he pulled to the side (seems he realized something was up) and pulled his window down. I said my gf is in the back with a medical issue and I'm heading to the ER. No other questions asked he said follow me and escorted me with his lights on through the next few lights to the ER entrance. THAT IS HOW YOU PROTECT AND SERVE.

My 4th pregnancy was filled with complications and I was in and out of the hospital. So much that my dr had a plan in place any time I would come to the ER. @@chickenmonger123I can’t tell you how glad I am to see people saying what you’re saying here. “The law” is just a phrase that cops and their simps use to dismiss as many complaints about police as possible. …And then, when “the law” isn’t explicitly on their side (or is explicitly opposed to them), they then use the standard of “But wouldn’t it have just been easier to be *NICE???* Not saying The Cop was Right but The Guy was Being A Dick…” If a cop does something which everyone knows is wrong, regardless of what some judge or some legislature said is acceptable, it should be rectified. Fucking handcuffed detainees in exchange for dropping their charges (i.e. raping a citizen in handcuffs) wasn’t even prohibited until the last few years due to several states allowing for a loophole where only “arrested” citizens were protected from (non-consensual) sex with LEOs.

That's typically what all departments do, specifically they try and withhold body cam footage for as long as possible to deter public outrage when it is released usually a year later. Their excuse is usually we are investigating the situation and therefore cannot release the footage at this time. Then a year or two later they determine no wrongdoing has occurred and hope everything blows over. Lackluster recently released a video of a man being assaulted and arrested for saying "be nice" to an officer that was being extremely rude to a lady. The prosecutors refused to prosecute anyone and internal affairs determined the officers did nothing wrong. Which goes to show how little police accountability we have around the U.S.

There's a reason they were demanding, not asking, but DEMANDING the paramedic "clear" the woman. They wanted to take the woman, and her husband, to prison and wanted the paramedics to claim the man was lying so they could step up the abuse. Sadly, I've seen this behavior before. I was a bystander, but I was rendering first-aid until the paramedics could show up, and the cop that showed up first was being a real . What happened was I was out walking Gigi, that's my Corgi mix pup, and an adult on a bike fell. It looked like the chain on their bike snapped. It happens sometimes, and I've fallen because of that before. Anyhow, the cop showed up first and then started accusing the guy of being "a drunk", the guy hit his head and was acting oddly, and when paramedics showed up, the cop got really nasty toward them and even threatened to arrest the if they didn't release the injured guy to his custody. Long story short, the injured guy was put in the ambulance, not the squad car, the squad followed the ambulance, and I don't know what happened after that. No the guy from the bike wasn't wearing a helmet, and yeah he hit his head pretty hard. I'm just glad, as a prepper, that I tend to carry a full first-aid kit in my purse. Yeah I know, sounds odd and makes my purse heavy, but it's better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it. Though at the time all I really had on hand to help was a few thick gauze pads for him to hold against the cut on his head, and me there to talk to him to keep him awake until help arrived.

Don't worry, if the women miscarried because of the cops delays, i am sure they will gladly prosecute the women under some abortion law. And we all know why... Blackmail... Drop the case against us or your wife goes to jail. Happens way too often that laws are misused to cover up crimes or issues with the cops in the US.

This is a good example of how 75% of patrol cop interactions go in America. If you act like you have a spine and don't bow down completely submissive or whatever you get this petty and vindictive behavior and attitude where they escalate, insult, harass, intimidate, antagonize, and detain you for as long as possible...while smiling, laughing, and plotting how to ruin your life.

Honking horn in an emergency situation is a "failing to maintain decorum" offense. US$1000 fine and one year in jail with no trial should be the police association bottom line while putting pressure on politicians going forward.

I mean...if the driver had just done what he is legally obligated to do, i.e. provide his license upon demand of a police officer during a traffic stop, the encounter wouldn't have escalated. Like it or not, pretty much every state requires drivers to provide their license upon demand of an officer during a traffic stop, and drivers agree to that requirement when they sign the paperwork to obtain their license. (I imagine this is true in all states, but I've not checked the code of all 50 states to know for certain. Every state I have checked, however, does include this requirement.) Traffic stops are *_NOT_* the same as other police encounters. You actually don't have any right to drive a vehicle on public streets / roads / highways, and you are held to certain requirements to exercise the _privilege_ to do so. You agree to those requirements when obtain a license. If we want to have a conversation about whether or not that should be the case, I'm all for it. But until the laws change, you still have to provide your license upon demand of an officer during a traffic stop...even if you don't agree with the stop or if the officer doesn't immediately tell you _WHY_ you were stopped. In some states, police are required to tell you why you were stopped (including Florida), but they aren't required to tell you before you are obligated to display your license. I've been pulled over quite a few times in my 27 years of driving, and I've _never_ had a cop escalate the situation like this...because I understand that I'm required to provide my license during a traffic stop, and I do so without argument. if the cop asks me if I know why I was stopped, I always tell them, "No sir / ma'am," and leave it at that. in those many traffic stops, I've been given two speeding tickets, and none of them have lasted longer than it took the cop to check my driver's license and license plate, write the ticket / warning (if one is issued), return my document(s), and tell me to be safe. I've never once "bowed down completely submissive." There are plenty of shitty cops out there doing shitty things, and this interaction is clearly one of those incidents...but not because the cop demanded the driver provide his license during a traffic stop. The driver refusing to meet his legal obligation and the remainder of the cop's actions throughout the encounter are what made it a shitty encounter. The driver could have simply told the officer he was trying to get his wife to the ER on her doctor's orders, provided his license (as required by law), and asked if he could escort his wife to the ER and then return to continue / complete the traffic stop. Even a cop in his feelings (as this one clearly was) would probably have allowed that, and probably would have let the driver off with a verbal warning.

We all know how these stories go: Our internal investigation has found no fault. Couple sues: Wins some settlement (paid by the city aka taxpayers). Cop goes a few days on PAID leave. At worst he get "fired" and then gets a new job the next day in a county right next door. And ... A few years later that same cop then gets involved in something more serious where somebody dies, after a dozen of other "minor" incidents aaaaaand ... get gets fired and rehired ... That is the issue with qualified immunity and strong cop unions. I have nothing against unions but when you have unions that put their members above the actual laws and threaten the public with removal of public safety to protect a lot of bad apples, ...

@@Durzo1259Internal affairs like prosecutors are not unbiased like most people think. They regularly find no wrongdoing despite lawsuits and clear violations of people's rights and excessive force (lawsuits also aren't an admission of guilt unfortunately). @@Durzo1259 It's because anything they say can and will be used against them in a lawsuit so if internal affairs admits the cops did something wrong then they will 100% lose a lawsuit. They work for the government too and all run the same circles. Which is why most of the time they admit no wrongdoing and just say they violated some policies which aren't law. The cops get paid time off and at best they have to do some re-training. If they're fired or pressured to resign they just switch departments which is why so many people don't like cops because there's so little accountability.
