For someone like me that does not understand how to put in zippers the measurements and line guides were very helpful to me and the instructions were very clear. Thanks for the tutorial I will try it sometime this week.

very helpful, clear and easy to follow - I have done the lapped zipper before but needed a refresher on how to do it! it can be very frustrating but once done it looks great and I think it's one of the best finishes for dress zips that are not invisible. thankyou !

It would be really great if someone would do a video of a "lapped zipper" using 2 different color fabrics for "right" and "left". It's confusing when the video refers to right and left -- and the fabric could be showing right side or wrong side. If there were 2 different colors or patterns of fabric -- it would be MUCH clearer.

this was very helpful, but i do have one question. What was your seam allowance for the first seam up the CB of the garment? 5/8?
@alexisosborn56453 жыл бұрын
According to Gertie, the rest of the seam (below the base of the zipper) is sewn at the normal 5/8in. kzbin.info/www/bejne/rJqqXp6ghNCAotE

Perhaps you could explain which side got pressed how much before you sew the flap over? I am confused as to which side got pressed how much. Also, wouldn’t it depend on the width of the zip?

Great question! I have forwarded your question to our sewing experts. Please allow 1-2 business days for their response. We will share their reply here. Thanks!

Sounds like you are assuming a 5/8 inch seam for the garment. I use 1/2 inch so I'd have to reduce the amounts by 1/8 inch/

What is the tape stuff you used AND why did you use it/
@CraftsyYouTube4 ай бұрын
It is wash away tape to keep it in place, or you can still use pins as well.

she didn't even show the part where you flip the extra seam allowance over an 1/8 and then catch it all the way down so it is hidden when you flip it back over......:(

It is hard to make something look perfect when, first you are doing it for the camera, and second, you are using contrasting thread. I found this very helpful as her technique is good and instructions are clear!
@bevmcmullen87586 жыл бұрын
Disagree! It was well done, but the contrasting thread for the purpose of demonstration is somewhat unforgiving.

@faithevermore9665 Жыл бұрын
Remember, she is using a contrasting thread color so that we can see the stitching. The zipper will naturally look better with thread that matches the fabric.
