As an autistic person who struggles with all kinds of noises whilst outside, I've been intrigued by these for a while. I really appreciate actually testing them to show that they do make a difference. I have to use full on noise cancelling just to exist outdoors but I might pick these up as a backup for environments where noise cancelling isn't necessary. I think there's a lot of room for talking about accessibility in audio but it's not really covered anywhere!

Hard same! Uncontrolled noise, especially in malls, busy stores, and large streets can shoot my anxiety right up - I’d been considering the ones from loop but these look awesome.

Autistic person who owns these "ear plugs" reporting in. They do do something... Going around in loud environments, I will always go with something with ANC, but these seems to do the trick for me for more quiet environments, like saving me from the air-conditioning or other annoying sounds... I mostly use them for longer road trips, as my car is not very well sound insolated.

You might enjoy the sound of green noise for any night time stress. Box breathing is something I've heard marines do that helps ground yourself in the moment, too. And aromatherapy from Air Wick and Bath & Bodyworks (vanilla musk is great). Plus fragrance mists for pillows are super under rated. Best of luck getting some peace out there!

@@sleepyrhythms6668 a lot of us with ASD are sensitive to scent too. A relative of mine uses the he airwick plugins and I can't stand being in the house as the smell no matter what it is is too overwhelming for me, and when my family come home from visiting I can smell the scent of the plugins on them. It can frequently bring on a migraine as it can be too much .

Extreme misophonia example here: They DO work for sure. I'm not sure weather in my case they fit as expected, but they still calm me down or even allow eat food with people. Fridge noise, car traffic, mall chaos. All this is calmed a lot. They work better if wore for a longer time. I get a little bump inside my ears while wearing them for longer time. Might be my ears. If not the bump, I might not remove them ever... Got the Calmer PRO btw. Went with PRO since my case of misophonia is heavy, but the bumps in ears might be due to PRO being aluminum. For music yeah, it's a downside.

Do u suffer from tinnitus as well?! Or just misophonia. Personally for me on top of misophonia I have an inside static/whining sound which is very disturbing when things are quieter.
@Velheibgnar
@Velheibgnar 10 ай бұрын
@@kittykennedyks I also have it but it's not always present. It's very quiet and always kind of static, never whistle. Seems related to some EMF but I cannot confirm as it's too "loud" in a distant forest to compare it with a quiet bedroom. :) I wish you peace ✌️. I'm not using Calmer for tinnitus if that was your question, calmer works when it's either loud environment and/or the worst kind of buzzing sounds. Either way, outside sounds. There is a chance tho that if calmer calms you in the long run, the inside buzzing can also stop. But it depends on so many things that I'd not put any money on it. For misophonia it's a solid bet. For tinnitus, too many variables of origin.

Thank you for this clear and informative video. I saw this product advertised on instagram with a amateurish self shot video of a writer that used them. And though it was intriguing. However, ads like that always immediately make me skeptical. No explanation on the product, no price in the ad, no data, nothing to actually convince someone to buy it. How they thought that was a good marketing strategy idk. But your video is way more confidence inspiring, ill take the chance for 25 bucks. As someone with diagnosed sensory processing disorder (though i think there might be more to my brain then just that lol) I really hope it works.

YES PLEASE, TEST THE OTHER STUFF AS WELL. I have used this for the last 3 years and have loved it, I was just wearing them before watching your video and was wondering exactly how they achieve this effect. I got them because many people claimed it helped their tinnitus and I found that wierd so I wnated to test it out and it DID in fact make my tinnitus better, to my utter surprise. II didn't notice anything initially, but after wearing them for a while and taking them off, I noticed my tinnitus immediately worse with them off. I use these in concerts, or parties with lots of conversation noise and it alwayws helped me hear better. In my previous office with constant keyboard noise, landline phones ringing etc., this also made a huge difference by softening the sharp noise. It did 100% make me calmer. I love this thing so much and I'm super happy with them.

Awesome review!! I’ve been using the flare calmer original for the last two years. They are super comfy and seem to work well for most noises but not all. It reduces the buzz of my a/c unit in my home and fan in my car. I like the lanyard for the car or concerts as the original can be easily lost or misplaced unless you put them right in your pocket or back in the case. I just for the calmer 2 prototypes today and they seems to be working just as well is not better. Only had them in for an hour and they are comfy so far. I am slightly concerned the hard plastic insert will change comfort if worn for long periods but we will see. So far I love them!!

This kind of non-electrical stuff is fun. I have a pair of what are supposed to be flat and music-worthy sound-reducing earbud-like things -- a kind of a plug with direct pass-through and I absolutely need them in movie theaters. I am particularly interested in knowing if there are other music-worthy thingys out there that are essentially flat but will somehow damp out excess reflections. Such an animal might help me with a chronic hearing problem I've developed. By all means, please carry on with these things. If nothing else they are interesting walks into the audible world.

I find these actually make my world louder, like I've just cleaned out all the old ear wax and didn't realize how much I wasn't hearing for a while. I haven't been brave enough to try them in social gathering situations because if there's food and I'm going to hear people eating, I'd rather pop in my loops and not hear that.

Bought this based on your review and it technically works. It will cut the ear gain region by a few db. However, imho the effect is far too subtle to even be worth putting something in your ear. I don't have any fit issues. The standard size fits my ear perfectly and is very comfortable. It just doesn't do enough. I would like it to reduce the 3k region by another 5db or something at least. Maybe the next iteration of this product will be more useful.

I work at a Starbucks at a busy mall and it's incredibly subtle while using them. Most of the time I can't feel them and I'll reach to make sure they didn't fall out. Or I'll forget if I have them in or out. I have terrible anxiety to the point I have to take heart medication to deal with the physical effects of anxiety since I'm too anxious to take anxiety meds (because the efficacious ones are anticholinergics). I always make sure I have them on Saturdays when it's crazy at the mall. After a couple weeks I was still trying to figure out if they were actually helping at all and I was having a perfectly fine Saturday at work and my anxiety was less than usual but that happens occasionally anyway based on who else is working and customers and how busy it is, so I didn't think anything of it. I took the flares out at lunch to put in earbuds (tried to put the earbuds in with the flares in. I legit can't feel these most of the time) and after lunch I forgot to put them back in and was noticeably more anxious after lunch and when I went on my next break I realized I never put the flares back in. I put them back in and my last couple hours that day were noticeably better. They're not magical but they do help a bit and if you have crippling anxiety you're probably willing to do anything for even a little bit of relief. If you don't have to talk to anyone loops are better if you have to fully function in society flares are worth trying

Very interesting. I sometimes use Ohropax Music outside. I just get way calmer, even a little like on drugs. I can not hear everything as good then but still way more than I would expect from earplugs. They have a noise reduction of around 16dB. Btw I like listening to music with them on my dt 770 pros sometimes. Works somewhat like an EQ: Warmer voices, less treble, comparatively more bass and more enjoyable. Still wouldn't say anything bad about my dt 770 pros.

Would love to see a test of the high fidelity calmers. Also a test/comparison of these normal calmers you tested in this video to the Calmer Pro version. I've got the Loop Experience atm and yes they are a good pair of earplugs compared to foam plugs - but my main issue with them is the amplification of noises from your self. Thank you for making this. Yes, please review the enhancing ones. Also, please explain which direction they are supposed to go in. I wore mine for the first time today and after a couple hours I was pretty irritable. I went to lay down for a bit and when I got up I had a super bad dizzy spell. I had put one in a different direction and I think it was putting pressure on my inner ear also I think I might’ve put it too far. I’m not sure I had a hard time finding instructions in the packaging for how to put them incorrectly. They have a little pool tab to make them easier to come out, but I’m still not sure which direction these go they have a bend in them and I think that that little elbow can become a pressure point balance issues or an issue after a concussion five years ago yes, five years. There are actual crystals in our ears, which I’m sure you know about and Vestibular issues can occur when these are affected. Maybe that’s what I did today. I’m still pretty excited about these because I watched TV with them last night again for the first time and I was able to watch TV much longer than I usually can so I know if I put them in different differently I can have a very very good experience and if I put them in wrong, I have a pretty bad one so to me I think they’re pretty powerful little things.

Interesting along with ear aids by Etymotic that they don't have anymore and apparently very good.

About this kind of product : are "Loop" a scam? I'm gonna buy uh, "molded personal earplug with filters" (don't know how you talt about that in English), with a 26 dB linear for concert and work I think it's more interesting to buy a 50 bucks 'low filter', made specially for that kind of feature, like, 8 or 10 dB filter than try a lot of product not really solving the issue for the same final price?

Its nonsensical because the brain is what interprets the sound arriving at the ear drum and you cant approximate "errors" caused in the reflective shape of the inner ear by looking at the physical shape of it - we interpret and "encode" sounds depending on where we stand and adapt our understanding of them while being in different accoustic environments. This becomes evident to anyone as soon as you record something with a microphone in a particular environment and listen back to it. It becomes much more obvious how unusual it actually sounded compared to when you stood there yourself, experiencing the sounds in person, because then your brain adapts and tries to make sense of the audio and make the information intelligible to you. But of course you can still sell products like this and make profit. And yes I have tried them myself, several years ago when they were introduced.

Its not changing anything for me and the instructions that come with them are useless to me. Not sure if I’m inserting them right

I’ve only got mine today but they did absolutely nothing too. I dont see how wearing them more can make them work 🤷‍♀️

These kinds of products aren't really new. I think I read about similar products about a decade ago on a HiFi forum and people were using them when they went to concerts to protect their ears. Out of interest I just checked the audiologist where I bought two of my last cIEMs and they have this kind of hearing protection for 7 different fields of use. One of those is for music. Suggested use is for concerts and clubs. But there are also other categories like hunting/shooting sport, industry, etc.

It is not hearing protection. It's really a different type of product, made to calm ambient noise "intelligently". it is not really useful for concerts, there is no filter to reduce the dB , it's not an earplug. Calmer is more for busy places, annoying little noises etc.

I have to sleep with my window open , but when the bar closes down the street at 2am , the loud tipsy groups wake me up . I don't like earplugs because I do want to hear my alarm in the morning, maybe this might work.
