The vast, empty rooms yawned before him like open graves, each meticulously crafted detail a desperate attempt to fill the void within himself. He shook his head, banishing the thought. No, he couldn't bear to face that crushing solitude, that inescapable truth. With frantic energy, he resumed his imaginary tour, his voice growing louder, more manic, as if to drown out the whispers of his own mortality.

The fireplace… just damn. The scale and functionality w the wood piles is like the open hearth in a castle baronal hall as old as the original cottage but the low profile takes it to a modern brutalism in which those 21 century hi-fi speakers can belong. How appropriate to be adjacent, both sound and heat are wave forms of energy.

Just an opinion from someone who just returned from two weeks in the Cotswolds…..I think a better look for the modern portion of the build would have been to make the new walls appear more like the traditional dry stack field wall with proper cock ‘n hen limestone coping.
