Chinese electric vehicle maker NIO is targeting the higher end of the vast electric vehicle (EV) market. The U.S.-listed company is known for its smart premium models and battery-swapping solutions. CGTN reporter Wang Tianyu visited NIO's Second Advanced Manufacturing Center in east China's Hefei, the largest city in Anhui Province. Take a look at what it is like inside.

Who knows how long it'll take before Chinese EV show up in NA (with those crazed politicians out for blood in Washington). I bet things wouldn't be all that affordable even if they were available due to high tariffs.

...on the long run BEVs cannot win and are way more expensive than NIO with its battery swap technology. Imagine having a remote control for your TV where you cannot swap the batteries easily but have to send it to someone and pay a lot so the batteries are getting replaced. Swappable batteries are the thing to rule.

Excellent news. NIO produces really charismatic vehicles. The biggest feature that distinguishes the brand from others is that during each battery replacement, you always continue your journey with a 100% full charge, and in a very short time like only 3 minutes. Bravo NIO, you are loved.

Fully automated factories. In the future, you might not even need human labor anymore, which means you don't have to pay for labor, which means, you can effectively produce things for free. A completely vertically integrated factory from raw natural resources to finished end products may not be a pipe dream anymore. The universe of Wall-e basically.

NIO needs to make a large, tall suv with the revolutionary Bose-Clear Motion electromagnetic suspension. If the suspension works as advertised, it is a game changer for high end vehicles. The et9 is a car for rich Chinese to be chauffeured around in. Americans put kids and dogs in their back seats.

@@WANDERER0070 I did but still didn't see or hear who made those robots. A couple of years ago, it was reported the majority of the robots were made in German and Japan. You have robotic production line doesn't mean the robots were made by yourself. I want to see how much China has progressed on making their own industrial robots.

Recommend to President Xi and/or the Chinese government to ask an electric car company like Li Auto to open a factory and research center in Kyrgyzstan and Thailand to open their market and appetite for electric cars and create local jobs. Also, invest in the Vietnamese electric car company Vinfast by taking shares or partnership and then sharing Nio's battery swap technology with them. They can then sell the cars in China.

Australia has the cheapest EVs in the world as Chinese auto companies have full access to the Australian market with no trade barriers. BYD's Seal costs around A$55,000. The same car in Europe is about A$90,000. In the US they cant even import it as its banned. You cannot impose barriers to keep away modern technology. You will end up becoming the loser.

01:49 - no no no no! To peak workers have to be removed completely from working on the cars directly. They have to build, maintain, repair the automats, robots, ai instead. And in a later step they have to lead to devices and AI building, maintaining, repairing and recycling these automats, robots and AI instead. You can even go further...but I do not want your neural structure to shut down due to overheating.

Does NIO actually own and opperate it's own production plants, like Tesla? I heard NIO contracts other manufacturers to produce it's cars. Thats why NIO will never be as efficient and cost effective as Tesla - who have the all of the production processes in house.
