Today, we’re stepping into the eerie yet fascinating world of what I like to call the Castle of the Wolves, a stunning relic of history nestled in the heart of France. Built in 1694, this impressive estate was originally commissioned by a wealthy nobleman, designed to be a symbol of luxury and power for the king of France Louis XIV.
As political tides shifted and the king fled the turbulence of revolution, the chateau found itself in the hands of a family of noble hunters in the late 18th century. They transformed it into their hunting lodge, and the grand hall became a chilling testament to their exploits, adorned with taxidermy trophies from their lavish hunts-each creature a reminder of their dominion over nature.
Over the next two centuries, the castle changed ownership multiple times, its walls echoing with the stories of those who lived, loved, and hunted within. However, by 1990, the burden of upkeep became too much, and the once-vibrant halls were abandoned, left to decay and surrender to nature.
Join me today and let’s see what’s left

This is without a doubt the most gorgeous castle I’ve ever seen. But you really need to find a very rich person who loves this beautiful place and has the vision to bring it back to its former glory. Tugs at the heart to think that the castle won’t be rescued. Purple bedroom was my favorite but choosing was difficult. Awesome tour, thank you for sharing it with us. ♥️🇨🇦

This is a beautiful castle! Thank you for sharing this with us! The taxidermy is a bit much, though... the hunters must have killed every animal in the area. 😢

My favourite room was the little guest room on the 3rd floor. The thing on the vanity by the window was for writing on you rested your paper on the green baize to write and kept your pens in the section below. Another great explore Big Bankz thank you. You show such respect for the places you explore and people and histories behind them.

Hey, Mr. B.Bankz! I'm a definite big-time fan. It blows me away with the locations that you find. This Chateau is ridiculously beautiful. It kills me (as it no doubt does to you too) to see that it's just disintegrating into the complete opposite of what it was meant to be. The exquisite design of each room was obviously mulled over and given so much thought and oh so much more love and attention with each and every part of the whole Chateau . The Lady of the Chateau was nothing other than a French lady. An oh so proud French lady. I'd forever be in your favour if you'd inadvertently mis-send me the coordinates!!!? You know, just in case i happen to find myself in that neck of the woods!! Yet, seriously. I'm beyond the point of working for the 'man!'. My imagination hasn't lost a step since I first realised that I could dream!! And that it was free! Lol, well, I'd make do with a cryptic clue or two! 🤔⬅️➡️↩️🙏👍

Bonjour Big Bankz, I love this castle, the sad part is that it isn't past the point of repair, we can only hope one day someone will find and buy it. It's heartbreaking to see so many wild animals stuffed in these French palaces. This is proof that the French completely destroyed their fauna and flora, and yet the French government nowadays pressures the rest of the world to preserve the fauna and flora of other countries, it is an ambiguity.
