Love the CX-70, i have no clue why people are hating on this beauty. who cares that it looks like a CX-90?!? they are both class-leading vehicles that can easily compete with Acura's or Lexus

Its not because it looks like a CX-90; it is because it basically is a CX-90. If they had used the same styling cues, heck even the exact same interior design, but shortened it and redesigned the rear end people would be going crazy over this vehicle. I will give you a real life reason why people care that it is the same as a CX-90. I have been in a market for the past two years for a new AWD midsize SUV. I have never owned a Mazda but saw some teasers of what they were developing as well as the CX-60 they released in Europe and decided I would wait to check out their new models before buying. I was disappointed that they decided to release the CX-90 first because I was not in the market for a larger 3 row SUV. So while I really like most of the new exterior styling cues and the interior is great, the CX-90 was just too large for me. So I patiently waited for the "all new" CX-70 to be releases as a mid-size two row SUV. Mazda's decision to just rebrand the CX-90 as a 70 with one less row did nothing for a buyer like me. The CX-90 was too large, so the CX-70 is now also still too large. I know I am just one buyer, but others have similar feelings and that is why the vehicle is getting so much hate online. I personally like the changes they did make, but they dropped the ball in the most critical department which was the overall length of the vehicle. This one should have had 6-7" shaved off and the rear end redesigned since there wasn't the need for the headspace for a third row. Had they done that this vehicle would be getting so much love. Very few people need that much extra cargo space in the back on a daily basis.

I agree. It’s really about if you need a third row or now. Like BMW, Mazda is trying to expand their SUV offering for our fickle market. Haters gonna hate!

I called the Mazda dealer looking at them, they said it’s the exact same car just without the 3rd row

I don't get the "hate" for the CX-70, but I do understand a level of 'disappointment,' as I experienced it myself. Offering a counterpoint to @hskrgrad, I also purposely waited for the CX-70. As a DINK household, we don't regularly need a 3rd row. We've been diehard Mazda fans since my 2016 CX-9 Sg. In fact, I ended up leasing two CX-5 Turbo Sg's (2019 & 2022) while waiting for the long-promised re-boot of the larger CX-9! But unlike @Hskgrad, my disappointment in the CX-70 simply led me to move forward and purchase a CX-90 PHEV Premium +. The value proposition I was seeking in a 2-row would have included a distinctly different roofline, a smaller footprint for perhaps markedly better performance and... a slightly lower price. Upon discovering that the 70 offered none of the above, and it cost the same, I just opted for the CX-90. We keep the third row folded most of the time (...which gives it essentially the same cargo area within fractions of an inch ), and have the flexibility of a 3rd row on the rare occasion it's needed. The cosmetic things the CX-70 brought to the table (e.g.: black chrome trim; 'sportier' faux vent openings on the front & rear fascia) weren't' important to me at all. I'm loving my CX-90 - chrome accents, 3rd row and all!

@@carguy216 So they didn’t mention replacing that chrome trim with black plastic/rubber? It’s such a popular difference that it’s rumored the CX-90 will offer that as an option in 2026.

I special-ordered one from Japan to get it with an interior other than black (I went with Greige GREy+beIGE leather). And I leased through Mazda Financial Services, and even though the Japanese-made Mazda PHEVs don’t qualify for Federal & State EV incentives, Mazda FS matches those and adds brand loyalty rebates for a total discount (in my Colorado case) of $14,850 off my $55K MSRP. An incredible value on it.

Best red in the business. You are the demographic for this car. 30, 40, 50 housewife. The inline six is quicker, weighs less so it handles better.

I like the way the 8-spd. auto transmission’s twin hydraulic clutches work w/ the PHEV powertrain better. 323 hp & the same 369 lb-ft torque as the turbo I-6 mild hybrid.
