Correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems like you're more focused on the particular programming language a company is using, rather than the problems they are solving. When it comes down to it at the end of the day, isn't programming more about solving problems than the language you choose to use? You'd be learning more from developing solutions / algorithms to problems that haven't been solved before, thus also satisfying the craving for a more challenging position.

Someone could use Jake’s typing sounds as soothing sleep sounds. Parts of the sound track gave me a Stranger Things feeling. I expected the Demogorgon to appear in the Moo office. I think the lighting and overall video stream quality _can_ actually matter on a video interview. Even just on a subconscious level a good looking video stream can influence feelings. It probably isn’t usually a big factor but subtle feelings on a first impression can matter if it comes down to a choice between two very similar candidates.

I interviewed at Moo when I was doing the PHP circuit in London a couple of years ago. I'm surprised they have grown so much with mostly printing business cards at the time. One of they guys interviewing me (probably the lead developer) was a arrogant shit and didn't have a clue what he was talking about. Didn't bother going to their second interview.

I actually experienced the same thing like you. 3 months ago I resigned and get the same exact question from my job applications 😂 the reasons that I gave was I did not get what I was promised initially during the interview. Or maybe u can just admit to them that it was your fault for not researching thoroughly before accepting the job. Hahahhaha anyways Goodluck Jake

why don't you try google/facebook/amazon these companies? They can definitely offer you more to learn and grow. Strictly writing php is kind of a waste of your degree, imho, don't restrict yourself to a certain language.

Is that ok to describe how your interviewer (CTO?) at Monzo reacted your answer of the question "why do you leave the last job" ? Did he break down the reason you replied ? because that means you will really provide more detail about this ... Which could be difficult to answer (I believe most interviewer s are nice but just very few attempts to expose your red flag so they can have excuse not to hire you)

You should consider learning Ruby. PHP isn't really a programing language but a scripting language. Ruby on rails shouldn't hurt and at least in the United States learning something like that is easier because of the resources but good luck.

Its too late now, but for future reference you should avoid that purple polo shirt when doing interviews. It is far too loud. Its the first thing I noticed when it came on screen, and your shirt should not be distracting the interviewer from you in an interview. Also on person style preference for shirts with buttons, my rule of thumb is to avoid buttoning up the top button unless you're planning on wearing a tie of some description (IE, unless you have a specific reason for the collar to be closed).
