10s from what I remember correctly from a podcast beyond I listened to must be agreed upon by senior editorial , that's why not a lot of things gets 10s and at most you'll see 3 or 4 tens for games a year at most, maybe more on the odd year.

In my opinion, this game got the rating it deserved. It's a beautiful, artsy, well paced and very enjoyable experience made by a very small indie team. I'm seeing a lot of people trying to shut this game down because an indie game got a perfect score, but that's not justified. You're comparing indie to AAA titles. AAA titles have their own way of rating, along with indie games. INSIDE had a lot of hype leading up to its release, the first impressions being very positive and the trailers gaining many views. I played the hell out of LIMBO back in 2011, it was and still is one of my favorite indie games. I followed this game from when it was a rumor to a leaked concept artwork to "Project 2" up until it's official announcement. It was well worth the wait. To reiterate, this is just my opinion. But you cannot blame Ryan for being an Xbox fanboy, or because of the fact that it's indie. INSIDE came out on PC and PS4 later in the summer, and the reviews were practically the same. INSIDE could have been shit on, but I can't find a single thing wrong with it. It's art. A masterpiece.

Make no mistake, Inside is FAR greater than 99% of AAA titles out there. It deserves a solid 10 regardless of the fact that it's indie, it doesn't deserve that rating with a different standard. This is true art and the reason why games have a potential of human craft and expression that movies and other forms of art cannot grasp. Indie games are better than AAA titles in my opinion because they usually are more creative and have a sense of authenticity to them that commercial AAA lack. Same goes with movies, usually indie art work captures the essence the artist tries to portray more than a company with hundreds of employees. I think the smaller the team the more homogeneous their vision of the game.

~Inside~ Made by PlayDead •One of the games that can express art, experience, and perfection. Yes, it may not be one of those games that most gamers come across and decide to play, but coming from a development team that work almost 6 years to create and perfect over and over again, I can't help but find that Inside is well made and bug-free game. Some puzzles were very confused at first glance, but after a while it does get very easy to figure out. The story was quite well made as well. How Inside ended off leaves me a mystery to find out and understand, as to how and why the boy started off in the woods, and why people were hunting him down, which will also lead to the community trying to figure out theories of it. In my opinion, Inside is indeed a very immersive, indie game that surrounds you with a terrifying environment. This 3 hour game will get boring soon however, so those who bought it, enjoy it while you still can! My rating: 9.5/10

That's why I'm so mixed about indie games that get 9.5 and 10s. It's not that I don't think that it's not an awesome game, but it just boggles my mind how genre defining games like Half Life 2, Bioshock, Red Dead Redemption, Last of Us, Witcher 3 are just reaching for a 9, but these simple artistic indie games are your almost perfect, pinnacles of gaming that takes all the 10s. Rating systems need to go away.

The only game from above mentioned that got a 10 from IGN was Last of US, as far as I remember. Sure it is an opinion, but I don't think that artistic games, that are very simple mind you, deserve to be deemed as masterpieces against games that change the scope of gaming. They define genres and many games follow suit. I just think that rating system should be changed or removed, because then it would be about opinion more so, than attaching numbers. You either love it and the game resonates with you, or you simply don't like it. And now people see a perfect 10. I dunno.

Many atypical gamers might label Inside as pretentious gibberish, however I think that what Playdead managed to pull off here is really quite extraordinary. Much similarly to something like Journey, Inside attempts to immerse you in sound and visuals, whilst slowly peeling away bits of this mysterious world that you find yourself in. I could clearly see that they took and learned from limbo and expanded on it every single way, rather than attempting to do something on an absurd scale like most sequels tend to. If you feel alienated by this game, so be it, however I am happy that for once a game asked for my participation.

It's in The Mines, during the 20 man puzzle. Once you get the three men standing in the hanging capsule, go down the wooden "ladder" but then have you and the men pull off a plank of the ladder.

Guys, it's a 10 because it does well in the genre it is, and it delivers aswell as maybe even more than what it was expected... GTA, the witcher, Uncharted are in the AAA section and in different genres and that is why they get diff ratings because they are judged in their own genre. If you are forced to give an indie game below 8 because its indie then you're basically going into the score of " average-dont buy " points because below 7-8 often turns people away.

You do realize game length ≠ it's quality. Limbo was short but it had great puzzles and a great story/message and is absolutely fun it play through again and again. Long games are fun but short games can be just as fun. Never judge a game based on it's length because you maybe missing out on a stellar experience.

The devs wanted a shorter more tightened experience to drive their message and story so it called for a shorter game. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that. What becomes a problem is if you are throwing things into your game for the sake of making it longer like Skyward Sword.

I can't agree more. I just bought this game today, started it up, and didn't stop until it was over. It was amazing! The game was just gorgeous, and haunting.. the water, and the dark colors, some of the deaths, man! And then the ending! 10/10, what a great game.

When I say this game is overrated, I'm not saying that because I favor Playstation or Xbox. The game was made to get good review scores, it has no challenge or gameplay but is so ambiguous that it is criminal to take it as anything but a masterpiece. In a 3 hour game the gameplay manages to repeat itself and even become boring at times, and the city is simply weak social commentary. The story is not a masterpiece, it gives us some ideas to think about, and because the game has been so highly praised, everybody assumes that it's genius and applauds it. I played through the game looking so hard for what people talked about, and after finishing I wanted to go talk about how great this game was to prove to them that I have great taste, but I couldn't. Because the game just isn't really that good.

There are actually details within the game that give light to the ending. It doesn’t just give you the answer outright but by looking at the environment you can start to piece together the holes in the ending.

Just beat this on ps4. This game is great. I loved Limbo but i do think this is better. Just wish it was longer. But wow, i wasn't expecting it to end the way it did. Shit just got crazy.

It's based on how perfect the game is, not how it compares to other games. In this case, the game is without flaws and everything about it is amazing. Therefore it gets a perfect 10. As for UNCHARTED 4, That game was amazing! but it didn't come without flaws. Wither it be in Story or gameplay, a big game like that is sure to have flaws. Wich is why it got it's 9.5 rating.
