i don’t know why people call sabrina the “other woman” or a home wrecker… both situations were not her fault and the “triangle” aspect is bc both of her boyfriends (basset and mendes) had celebrity exes before her lol. olivia just wrote songs about her ex moving on, mainly targeted to joshua not sabrina - it was the hate train that came from fans that hit sabrina. as sabrina said.. “because she liked a boy”. then with shawn mendes, she dated shawn after he broke up with camila. imo shawn really does love camila and just can’t move on from her and that’s not sabrina’s fault. she was used as a rebound essentially in both cases, so she writes from the (somewhat) unique perspective as someone who was “used” or “played”, only for the man to go back to his ex.

It's important to note that BEFORE Sabrina's album came out, Camila has already written about this very situation in her album C, XOXO, and funnily enough, about pretty much the same thing Sabrina writes. It's pretty clear that Shawn is the root of the problem here. Idk why people keep hating on Camila when even Taste (both the song and video) isn't really a Camila diss either.

As a blanket statement, sure it’s probably true for a lot of fans of different artists and music, but Taylor Swift does what she does on purpose because it’s gotten her this far. Her literal brand was penning songs about guys in her life from her debut album on til 1989. I stop it there because I’m a fan but haven’t invested much time in her music post 1989 so I can’t totally speak on it but I’m almost certain she still makes music about her failed loves especially now that she’s broken up with that guy she was with for like 7 years I think. Camila and Shawn’s relationship was no surprise to fans as they had been heading that way for years. They got closer during the writing and recording of Senorita and it’s music video and at first tried to keep it private but once it was established they just didn’t care. Of course they used the interest in their romance to push the song, as far as performances at award shows went etc, that’s just being smart, but the rest of the time they kept as private as possible, quarantining in Miami etc. Shawn began to talk about it more when he released his Wonder album which was about their relationship and his feelings for her, so it seemed impossible not to, but it has been mentioned that the attention did contribute to the breakdown of their relationship. As for Sabrina, and all of them in fact, it’s natural to write about your experiences and this happened a while ago and all have moved on. Yes, they all have albums out, and it does drum up some additional attention so people will be listening to their music to see if it’s true, but I think it’s probably more of a useful coincidence (no pun intended). And songs like this are more Sabrina’s style, rather than her repeating the love triangle thing. The whole drama doesn’t make any of them look good - Shawn looks like a dumb a**hole, Sabrina bitter about him returning to his ex and landing herself in the middle if another love triangle, Camila like she came to get him back because he was dating Sabrina. I doubt any of those are (completely) true but only they know.

There is an obsession from media to fans of artists relationship. I personally find it intrusive, but I can see these artists get publicity out of it, which gains attention. New Sabrina Carpenter's video Taste, is very enjoyable and I do rate her far more than Camila Cabello. What I find is sad, there has been a big wedding of Steve Harris's (Iron Maiden) daughter marrying Ronnie Wood's (Rolling Stones) son. Honestly, as a Sabrina and Camila fan, this is so unnecessary. This was the same situation Sabrina was in before and as much as it did help her success a bit, it still ended with death threats. And Camila just got out of multiple people saying she was copying Charli XCX (which she didn’t if you actually listen to the album) and now she’s in this mess. Shawn's music rn is "more personal " he said, according to things he's been through, man needs a break. I used to LOVE her back from when Girl meets world first aired , to 2019. After that, she seemed to change, personality wise. Singer/songwriters usually write about their life experiences, of course from their own POV and embellished for arts sake. Their songs all tell a story that fans of Shawn and Camila already know. He was seen with Sabrina Feb/Mar last year, he denied in March they were dating so assuming it wasn’t serious or had ended at that point. Then in April he and Camila was seen at Coachella all over one another. “Sources” later claimed they had been seeing each other for a while and they were spotted quite a few times before breaking it off in NY late May. Camila and Shawn both address this in songs. The first song this video quotes as being from his new album is an old unreleased song by the way. They seem to have made friends again recently, attending football in Miami together and liking each other’s posts again after a long time. I hope so as they were friends for a long time before dating (even if there were feelings there all along). Sabrina apparently felt she was led to believe he was over Camila and so was a little bitter about the ending, but it only lasted a matter of weeks and is long over. They have all moved on from it. I’m sure Shawn is fine about it, he is used to Camila dragging him in her songs! And Camila had her say, sharing a snippet of her song, whether on purpose or not! 😉

She was caught up on it not on her own volition, she was toyed with, caught up in a situationship, and left stranded, ghosted, and broken hearted. She just happened to use it as material for her music, and a lot of artists in all genres do it.
