The majority of Jews aren’t religious/devout. They are secular. If you look into the history of Zionism, some orthodox Jews were Zionist and believed that Jewish people should have their own state. The different sects within Judaism agree to disagree. Within the same sect there can still be division in interpretation of the Torah. If there are two orthodox rabbis one can be a Zionist while the other one can be against Zionism. This is why there is confusion around Judaism and other religions of the world

Aside from the fact that there has always been a Jewish community in the Land of Israel for the past 2,000 years (for example the Galilee town of Pkiin is famous for having a constant Jewish presence, with some Jewish families that are documented to have continuously resided there from before the Destruction of the Second Temple up to the 20th century--today only one descendant of these Jews, an old woman named Margalit Zeinati, still lives there, there have always been migrations of Jews making aliyah to settle in the country over the centuries, without them necessarily endorsing the political programs of 19th and 20th century Zionism. Some of my own ancestors were Sephardic Jews who settled in Galilee (Tiberias and Safed) in the 1500s, later moving to Jerusalem in the 1800s, I guess you could say they were "Zionist" in that they were pious Jews who prayed for a restoration of Jewish rule over the land with the coming of Messiah but back in the 1500s they didn't envision a modern Jewish state in Israel with a post office, a parlieament and an international airport! (To be clear, my family in the 1940s were political Zionists who did fight for the establishment of modern Israel but I doubt it was in the minds of ny 16th century ancestors who came here from Spain and Turkey.) But there are many Ashkenazi haredi (ultra Orthodox) Jews who migrated to and settled in the Holy Land from the 1600s to 1900s who wanted to be in Jerusalem and the other holy cities like Safed, Tiebrias and Hebron to study Torah, to pray, and to be buried on the Mount of Olives so that when they Messiah comes and the supposed resurrection of the dead happens, they will be close to where all the action is, they believed that they would have a front seat to the Ingathering of the Exiles and the retsoration of a Jewish kingdom and the Third Temple, but they were opposed to the modern Zionist movement that created the modern State of Israel as a secular state. The Neturei Karta is the most extreme of these groups, most of the other ultra-Orthodox who were opposed tpo the establishment of modern Israel as a Jewish state have made their peace with the fact that exists and want to get a share of the budget, etc.

@@Enrico- When Jesus was alive he was preaching exclusively to the Jews. It wasn't until the conversion of Paul that he showed any interest in including non-Jews in the new church. The Jews first took Palestine by force when it was Canaan and they took it from the Canaanites. They lost and won it by force over and over for about 1500 years. At the time of Christ Palestine was under Roman rule and the Jews were about to revolt against Rome and Jesus was trying to talk them out of it. He tried to teach them that if they can live peacefully with their neighbors that they can live wherever they want. This was the whole point of Jesus's life and death. The Jews ignored Jesus and went on to revolt against Rome and doing so they lost everything just like Jesus had warned them. I don't know how you didn't already know that. Maybe the church you attend isn't teaching you anything at all.
