Thank you Captain O'Neil for saving the old Irish tunes that would have been lost to history if you had not recorded them. Historians come in all different ways and it's important that things are saved for all to learn about their heritage.

Pretty cemetery. With newer headstones and truly old ones. I always feel bad for the little mounds and stones who will remain anonymous forever. Thank youGV and Sue.

It’s on Elston Avenue. The area was once a very Irish neighborhood, although Chief O’Niels tavern is not from that era. It’s fairly new in the scheme of things. I grew up in the St Veronica Parrish when there were still a lot of people of Irish descent.

Cool looking cemetery. If anyone ever decides to really clean it up, those ivy plants are going to be hard to deal with. The mausoleums were particularly interesting. So that is what happens to coffins after 150 some odd years. Great video, thank you very much GV and Sue. Have a great week ahead 😀

🤔.... Black berries growing on a grave 😳........... 😅 I'll pass on eating those berries. I know they are ok it's just where they are ( it's a mind thing) lol. Such a shame, most old table tops are unreadable due to weather corrosion. Great video GV enjoyed it.
@rebeccavoss0126 күн бұрын
Eww that's some gross stuff coming out of that first crypt! Guess they didn't realise that building them into the hillside like that would cause water damage maybe. Pretty Cemetery, love that stone wall built along side of it too. Those blackberry bushes are very invasive in some areas of the Australian bushland. But they are delicious! Great video GV and Sue 👍

Don't pick and try to eat the red blackberries because they are not ripe yet and won't be good to eat. Only the black ones. We have them here in the US too. I've tried to eat the red ones, they are hard and sour. Leave them be and come back later for them when they are ready. Ah blackberry cobbler with a topping of ice cream, nothing finer! You made me hungry GV! I'm originally from the midwest of USA and used to pick these. I had to watch for poisonous snakes that frequented the blackberry bushes looking for prey. You don't have that problem in the Irish Republic, lucky you!

Beautiful graves. It always strikes me how much care went into the hand carvings of those headstones and statues back in the day. Nothing rushed about them - true craftsmanship. Although we have modern machinery to do it for us now, our carvings are nowhere near as good. I'm also suspecting they won't weather time as well either.

The places which have great age, with stains of rust and cracks with ivy growing up through them are always more interesting to me than those which are younger and more pristine. I also have the same fascination for the areas of town which reflect an element of "life's struggle" instead of a life of wealth and ease.
