Yet another fascinating adventure with Cathal and Sue. Imagine trying to get a lead coffin down all those steps - not an easy task. What a beautiful setting for a Graveyard - so peaceful and well away from urbanisation. Thank you so much for taking us along with you - always so enjoyable. Take care 🙂.

Those steps in several of those vaults look very steep and going back up the steps look very high. I hate to think of it, but imagine having to carry a fully loaded coffin with the body inside down to the crypt. Makes me wonder how many might have been dropped and slid down the rest of the way. That could cause some damage to the coffins. I did see the remains of the one skeleton but couldn't see any leg bones. Thank you for the tour as it looks like a beautiful cemetery.

Even though the bodies themselves had long deteriorated it's amazing looking at bones that are hundreds of years old and knowing that was a human at one time Little did they know that in 200 years someone would be looking at their skeletons

You of course got a better look at it but the caskets in the US have straight sides and ends. That one had the shape of the coffins. It was wild in the one vault with the two remains on the ground. There were no visible signs of coffins so it looks like they were just laid on the ground in there.

I don’t think they where shrouded in the one with the pile of stone. There’s a handle above the skull of the seems to be a child or young adult/teen. They were probably in wood but the wood rotted away due to the poor construction to keep out the elements.

The vaults seem to be poorly designed to me. The stairways trap debris and leaves and certainly water. The open slots in the iron doors introduce moisture and bugs. Personally I wouldn't place any of my loved ones in such a vault. But to each his own.
