The Spurs are still developing players and will have to find gems in the draft like they have done throughout history. That's why they let so many players go so that they can load up on draft picks. These players don't want to play in cities like SA...look at Dame, he didn't even want to go to Milwaukee and that team is ready to complete now. Look at all those old azz free-agents none of them come close to fitting in the Spurs timeline for winning. I believe the difference between Wemby and Chet, besides Wemby being defensively superior, is that Wemby is the one who carries the team, whereas Chet benefits from the spaces created by his teammates. If we take the case of Jordan Poole as an example, when he was a secondary player, he benefited from the spaces, but when he became the main weapon, he struggled a lot.

I don’t think it’s too early to start speculating about Wemby in all time great conversations. Obviously he hasn’t accomplished anything yet but he clearly is a generational talent. My view of all time rankings is we shouldn’t be comparing players from different eras, the way the game is played evolves so much every 10 years that the sport becomes different. For example just 10 years ago 2013 was arguably Lebrons peak , the scoring average for teams was 98ppg and 20 3s attempted. Chris Bosh as a stretch 5 attempted 1 3 per game. Fast forward to now teams the scoring average for 3s is 115ppg and teams attempt 35 3s. Attempting 1 3 for a center is not considered a stretch 5. So I rank by tiers Tier 1 Goat of an Era 60s Russell vs Wilt 70s Kareem vs Dr J (ABA included) 80s Magic vs Bird 90s Jordan vs Hakeem 00s Duncan vs Shaq 10s.
