Formerly 50 of 74 a hobo. I was " lucky ? " growing up to prepare me for being homeless. I lived in an abusive family so learned very young not to trust people in general. From the age of 15 ( when I caught my first freight train ) learning you got to take care of yourself. No one else is going to do it at least until you start doing that your own self. One really big factor was getting very " thick skin " and mostly not giving a shit about what people thought of me. From meeting thousands of people from all walks of life I learned well to size people up on the spot. I picked up a few tricks from a carnival fortune teller on reading people with a handshake and a brief glance in their eyes. I would sometimes read peoples " future " from their palms or a deck of playing cards. With very accurate results. BUT I knew just barely enough about palm or card reading to appear like I know what I am doing. After I amazed a person I would show them how it was done. Above all being able to read people and circumstance is the key to survival. Whether in the corporate boardrooms or in a soup line.

This is exactly what i expirienced homeless. Once you end up homeless witch can happen to anyone who gets laid off you see just how messed up an narcissistic society really is.

I pray that you can stay off the streets and stay housed and get a job or start a business or whatever dreams you want and I believe you can because you're really smart and have a lot of common sense

I was a lot more primal when I was on the streets which came with me once I got housed-primal meaning being aware my surroundings/taking no risk on anything/the belief that everything is it's last.....I still go thru these scenarios

It’s sad that we have to keep going through things like this as human beings.

Many hikers and backpackers have chose to live without the constraints of traditional homes to travel the country on foot much as a hobo. They don’t consider themselves homeless. Maybe it’s because it’s by choice-funny the different perspectives. If you were to refer to yourself as a backpacker in the city or urban survival, your channel might blow up-those topics are very popular.

I would suggest it is better to physically posture than verbally. With words you could put yourself in a position where your aggressor feels like he now has to fight to secure his ego, or your words or how you say them might give away a feeling of weakness. You also need to balance this though with bystanders who may later become witnesses. Did you say you'll put him 6 feet underground? Or did you say, "Look buddy, I've had a hard day and I'm going home, how about you just go where to need to go?" Which will sound better to the police when they show up? Never say, "I don't want to fight" because it always translates into, "I won't fight".

Yes, physical posture is usually the first thing, verbal posture is just to deter the last couple knuckleheads

Figure out a way to get thru it. You can't ever go back to being young. One thing I would have done at a young age would be "Job Corps". Got to be ages 16-24, They house you, feed you and train you in a skill. Go work in the oil fields of Wyoming..bank your money and buy land in a few yrs. Another place for wayward people is "cool works" site. You can go there and apply to jobs directly that are in beautiful places.
