It makes sense when it comes to human social hierarchies and what types tend to get to the top faster and stay their for longer, it’s the extroverted, generous, intelligent, creative yet disagreeable at times type of people that tend to climb into places of leadership, this is why psychologically I don’t buy that he’s a narcissist because narcissists just don’t last at the top for 60 plus years, because everyone in their circle will take them down whenever they get the chance, and he has a sense of humour which is actually more telling than people think when it comes to that

I drove trucks for a man with a teapot on the stove temper once. He would scream and shout at me, i walked out went home and called in that afternoon, talking to his wife, asked when my next load was. she said the way the boss railed at me has driven many drivers away. I told her after working in the oilfield for a few years, i learned that unless the boss actually said I was fired, i still had a job. The boss never apologized to me for that outburst, I never asked for an apology. His kids, who worked with him said I was the only guy he could not scare. He ranted a few more times at me. When he was done, he noticed I had not cleaned out my truck. He asked if I was going to quit. I told him he will not shout me out of a job. If and when I quit, it will be on my terms, not his. He walked away, his son said he had never been dressed down by an employee and walked out before. I told him I knew he needed me more than I needed him. His son laughed out loud. I stayed with him until the day I was offered a better job. I went into the office between runs, told his wife I had a job offer that was better and I was leaving, she called him in, we shook hands, he thanked me for the time we had together. We parted friends. I have retired from driving, his son now runs the company. I live a quiet life in a small town in the great place called "flyover country". Life is good.
