Very well explained young man ! It is such a simple thing, but even veteran shooter's fall into bad habit's. I have been shooting since 1954--that's 7 years before Allen made the 1st Compound Bow. I'm 80 now and instead of a Quiver on my back, I have an oxygen tank--but thank God, I am still shooting !! Keep up your good work, I am sure you have helped may Archer's improve there score's and Trophy's !!

Well once again an extremely helpful video. George Ryals did a video on the back shoulder, but it did not come close to the detailed explanations given here. This is the best explanation along with visualization of how to get the correct front and rear shoulder placement I have seen anywhere. It also does a good job of helping you understand what you may be doing wrong. Great video. Thanks for taking the time to post. I sure wish I lived within driving distance of your shop.

I found it remarkable by watching the arrow against the sign to the right of the MORRELL sign. When the man purposely screws the shot up with the raised right shoulder the arrow is NOT parallel to the edge of the poster to the MORRELL sign. I dont know if the archer knew that was going on whether purposefully used the sign to prove his point BUT THIS GUY IS RIGHT!! And that raised right shoulder has been driving me nuts with shots of more than 15 yards or so. Rewind the video a couple times and don't watch the speaker but watch the arrow against the top edge of the poster to the right of the morrell sign. It's freaky he's holding the drawn arrow perfectly parallel to the top edge of the sign and his release maintains that parallel position and in its flight. Congratulations to the archer- HE just solved a lot of my archery problems can't wait to practice his technique in the back yard. All this time I thought my Switchback and a modestly priced sight was my problem.

This kid is spot on. He knows his archery. It really is about form and technique. He's right, when archers are not consistent with their shots usually is because their draw length is too long or short. In some archery shops they just want to sell you a bow. They don't take the time to check if the bow fits the customer. Specially if you are a beginner and are purchasing a used bow. I have seen this happen. If customer is buying a late model bow and they don't have the correct modules for your draw length they sell you the bow anyway knowing that you will have trouble in being consistent with your shots. This happen to a fellow member of the sportsman's club that I'm a member of. He had a hell of a time in trying to exchange the bow to one with the correct dl. He got one with the correct dl and problem solved.

Have already increased DL by 1.5" and readjusted to a full 2" to try today. The 1.5" increase is so much more comfortable. Thanks. P.S. "I did" have a problem with the "PIN" being in the way. I kept the slide sight, but replaced it with a "Hind 2 sight" (which I have put in the X position instead of the cross) which has a space for the center of the target. ...Groupings immediately improved. Thanks again.

This is amazing info. I always wondered why I get along great with my old bow and i never seem to get the accuracy with new bows sometimes. Most noticeable thing is pin drop. Thanks for this video and explaining and verifying what my problem has been regarding keeping the pin from dropping out of the middle and not being able to bring the pin to center again. Just like I suspected all along it has been my posture. Now that I am getting back into archery I am having the same problem but magnified even more because of a rotator tear and slight frozen shoulder from an injury I sustained slipping on ice. The tear and slight frozen shoulder from the release shoulder does not allow me to raise my elbow above my shoulder so at full draw but my elbow is almost level with my shoulder at full draw. I still feel that I have to force my release shoulder back and the fact that I already have slight rounded shoulders to begin with I think my best option is to give up archery all together unless their is a solution which at this point I don't know what it is. Thanks

How about shooting high? Just started using back tension with a trigger release and at least one out of every five shots is two inches high at 20 yards
@Kgsoloman-ou6wm4 жыл бұрын
If you have changed your release one of two things is happening. 1. You changed your anchor position on your face whether you realize it or not. 2. The design of your new release is different from your previous release, changing your point of release. Another problem if you came from a wrist release, is the difference in length from d loop to the calipers of the release. Wrist releases are typically much longer. You may find increasing your d-loop length to help as well.
