As I Montrealer I have fundamental respect for the legendary NYC deli sandwiches (I had a great corned beef sandwich at Junior's in Brooklyn last February before the disaster hit). But with all due respect for the nice senior ladies, they have probably never tried real Montreal smoked meat that most aficionados agree are also world class. Insider tip: for anyone planning to visit Montreal when this mess is behind us...never go to Schwartz's which is the most famous but strictly for tourists. Locals always go to either Main Restaurant, Snowdon Deli or Smoked Meat Pete. And for the sake of civilization NEVER order the meat lean...
@felixsoheili11542 жыл бұрын
You sir speak the truth while Schwartz was good the first time I have come to appreciate the Montreal smoked meat elsewhere. We have one in Langley BC called Estrellas and it's actually really good not Smoked Meat Pete's good but like a 4.5/5

@? ,? , ownership took place with the death of Willy Katz, as his son Lenny took over. In 1980, both Lenny Katz and Harry Tarowsky died, leaving the store to Lenny's son-in-law Artie Makstein and Harry's son Izzy. In 1988, on the 100th anniversary of its establishment, with no offspring of their own to leave the business to, Lenny, Izzy and Arthur sold it to long-time restaurateur Martin Dell, his son Alan - who was a chef and a manager at a neighboring deli - and Martin's son-in-law Fred Austin. Alan’s son Jake joined the business in late 2009 and is in charge

Skating on a beloved romantic comedy movie scene filmed there. Like the Bull and Finch in Boston, AKA Cheers. Both Meccas for fans, but rarely live up to expectations. As a Boston Jewish deli guy, this is not a deli at all. It's a sandwich shop, and a bad one. There is no way you can justify a $25.00 sandwich. And $3.00 for a can of cream soda??? There's a reckoning day coming for these lying, cheating individuals.

Tyler Tilla No
@nysdgiants5 жыл бұрын
don't think so. especially when Langers don't even make their own pastrami, they get it from RC Provisions. I've had Katz since I was a kid and I've lived in socal for the past 18yrs, and there's no LA deli whether it be Langers, Canters, Nate n Al's, Jerry's or Brent's that can touch a Katz pastrami. also that's like me a new yorker saying that NYC has better Mexican food. there's a reason why deli is better in NYC and why Mexican is better in Socal.
@tylertilla46545 жыл бұрын
nysdgiants I’ve lived in both places (NY for a shorter amount of time) and the bread at Langers puts it over the top. I can buy Katz rye bread at any bakery. I don’t see how them not making the pastrami themselves would have anything to do with it it, but I guess it’s just preference.

I was in Vegas and Katz had a place; it is since closed, and was next to a New York pizza joint. I ordered a pastrami and corned beef; not thinking it was a big sandwich, and ordered a large pizza next door and didn’t pay attention to the size or price. They both were ready at about the same time. Whoops! Well $75 later I had a 1 lb pastrami sandwich and and 24” pizza. 😂

had the rueben there about a month ago. Honestly it was worth every penny. I havent had pastrami of that quality ever from any other restaurant. You gotta understand, if you order any pastrami sandwich or rueban from any other restaurant what you are getting is dry, refrigerated meat that you can just pick up from your local supermarket. Their pastrami is the freshest pastrami that you can ever have. Very few places in America make their own pastrami from scratch and you can tell when you eat at Katz, all other pastrami sandwiches fall to the wayside.
