I know nothing of the technicalities of ballet but have so much appreciation of the art as I have been practicing marital arts for many years but have no way near the leg strength of ballerinas. I'm in love with ballet in its simplest form.. Astounding.. Beautiful.. I wish i were more knowledgeable..

@@Sunflower_vallythis comment is not body shaming anyone. The ballet industry is known for putting immense pressure on dancers to be underweight. The fact that this professional ballerina has a healthy weight is good. It means the company she is with does not support these harmful standards

@smileandblinktwice I think that the second 'develope' she does is an ecarté, that can be done in a front version (looking to your hand, arm above the head) and in the back, wich she did (loking to the barre, where you can let your upper body go a bit)

@fashionballetNYC5...I have the hardest time with this! I always feel the muscles on the tops of my thighs doing the work, not underneath. The only time I can feel the muscles behind my leg working is when I turn my leg out slightly, or if I flex my foot. Any tips? How can I switch to using the "underneath" muscles instead? Are there leg exercises I should be doing to strengthen those muscles?

No, I don't think so. They are straight at the knee, but that's okay on a leg that one isn't even putting weight on. The foot is quite pointed, but that's normal for ballet.

I often see Marianella use's her hands / fingers very similar to this dancer ...Its my only pet pieve with the Royal Dancers trained through the school . At some angles it looks like they are throwing the " head banger rocker sign" you see at heavy metal concerts you can see it clearly at 29 seconds in when shes in attitude / arabesque . I prefer a stream lined hand with no signs of strain .

Fair enough. We all have different bodies. It is true that most thin dancers are very heathy. If you look back in history, women were much thinner, and men much stronger. That is because there is far more food around now, and men sit in front of a computer rather than training for combat. In summary, I agree with your comments
