The backing on the little pearl earrings is magnetic and the jump ring on the gold necklace has a spring inside that is magnetic
@traceyhuntstreasure28907 ай бұрын
My gold guy taught me this recently. I suggested that maybe the clasp isn't true gold and he explained that it is it's just the mechanism inside. He also told me that sterling silver can have a tiny magnetic pull.

I have several of the bracelets like your emerald and diamond bracelet. Mine are a sapphire one, A ruby one, N emerald one and an amethyst one. I paid between $125 - $225 for each bracelet but that was back in 2007. No idea what they are worth now but it has to be more I have passed them along to my granddaughter as I now have terminal cancer. Good luck with your business! 😊😊😊

I had the best time learning about this jewelry box contents! I hope I can find more of your videos and learn more.I’m waiting for some money. I want to find precious pieces, not just go buy nice stuff. I like old…I might have to go shopping to replace my jewelry lost in a California wildfire and buy a couple…but discovering pieces is exciting…

Nice video. Sure takes time for all the sorting. A couple of things. On the delicate gold chain - the clasp is called a spring ring, not a jump ring, although there are jump rings that are right next to the spring ring and usually are the terminals on chains and other components to hold the components together. On fine jewelry the jump rings are mostly soldered together and on costume they are not, but can be opened and closed to join the parts. You might want to check the pearl stud posts again, as I think the post backing was what was magnetic not the posts themselves. Worth another look anyway. Enjoyed the search with you.

How do I list the rocks that are not rubys, diamonds etc etc with a gold or silver chain? Gemstones? Will be a general name? So “10k bracelet with gemstones”? Thanks

I would take along a Diamond Selector II as well. They are cheap and can help you determine if a piece of jewelry has diamonds or not. Not the perfect tool, but at least gives you a higher probability.

Rusty, I don't know if you check these, but there are a couple things I wanted to say. First of all, I wanted to say you're amazing. I have learned so much from you. I truly believed I knew a lot about reselling a lot about jewelry and a lot about how to Google things and figure it out myself. But I truly have learned a lot. And I appreciate you more than you will ever know. One thing I wanted to tell you, yesterday. I found a necklace from sarah Covington that was sterling Silver. It said both Sarah Covington and Sterling silver on the same necklace tag i send you a picture but I don't know where to send it. Secondly, in this video on the ring. You say that baette could be tourmaline. I've mined tourmaline. As far as I know there's no clear tourmaline. You've said something like that before in some other video I can't remember.Tourmaline is my favorite and I go to the tourmaline mines. I have gotten so much jewelry, so many family members have passed away. And now you make me want to go buy more stuff, but luckily the video of "don't go by more stuff" came up so i'm not doing that. My husband thanks you for that, I thank ❤😊you for all your help.

I really appreciate these videos - you've taught me a lot about jewelry construction. Some thoughts on stones - The "maybe agate" pendant looks like Howlite, to me. Usually you can see some light through an agate & agate is gonna be worth more than howlite. Clear/colorless tourmaline (achroite tourmaline) is super rare & quite valuable. Odds are really, really low that a random clear stone you're testing is gonna be tourmaline. Almost certainly glass. Thanks again!

At 47:51 the Jump Ring is gold and why the magnet is picking it up is because the little spring in the jump ring is not gold.
@samanthafairweather91867 ай бұрын
The circular clasp on the gold necklace has a metal spring inside it, which is what is causing it to be picked up by the magnet. The clasp will be gold, if that is what it's marked. This is a common mistake made by people, so you really need to test the clasp.

That AVON ring @21:14 is from 1977. I sold AVON then. I also had 3 I accumulated at estate auctions inn box lots. Not sure what the value is as I haven't tried to sell it or researched it.
