Bro he was horrified When he saw what they did to Ponzu and the "mascot guys" but he also think "they don't even care for their group" something that You would espect from animals. Obviously sometimes he is a hypocrite and is dificult for him to understand complex morals decisions but still this is so exaggerated, to me is expecting too much for a kid

i find it really interesting that here we see Gon's first murder. his reaction is very different than Kurapika's. Kurapika felt sickly, he felt awful. to throw away a life disgusted him so much, he may of even been compelled to vomit. a man who murdered his entire family for profit, he buried respectfully with a shovel. Gon, on the other hand, doesn't even seem to registered that he just ended a life. he proposed mercy, the enemy said "no mercy.", so Gon showed no mercy.

Loved it too, Gon killing someone without any remorse is a cool thing to see since in shonen mangas, the hero has ALWAYS a impactful reaction that might change him (in good or in bad). He Gon just simply didn't cared. This thing is mostly hidden by the fact that those npc are not relevantso no one important died I have to point out something. There is no respect from kurapika to Uvogin death's. He killed him and buried him faces down. Buring someone face down means that you show no respect for him. When archeologist found people buried faced down they understood that it was a form of humiliation and was also a sign of making a hard journey for his soul to ascend since it was thought that soul leaves from mouth. Also, uvogin was buried in a deserted place far from the city, no one will find him, no one will give him their last goodbye and no one will cry at his funeral since it will never be found. That's why they did the requiem, so that whatever Uvogin is, he might hear them (simbolically) Don't know if that final statement about kurapika was was sarcastic or not, in which case, my comment is a digression that might inform somebody

I'm not very knowledgeable of cultures in regard to their treatment of death, so this is good to know. i've obviously never killed someone before, but it was my assumption that leaving a dead body somewhere or just dumping it in a river would be the disrespectful action, while burying them or putting their ashes in an urn is the respectful action. i didn't know the angle of the face was relevant c:

I don't think you can compare the 2 situations .... First of all, it is technically his first kill bc Kite finished the ant in the previous episode but actually Gon already intended to kill that one bc he saw the group treating humans like pets and kill them for fun and he was really disturbed, so Kite had to remind him to stay focused and to kill them without hesitation ...so Gon wasn't emotionless he was just convinced that killing was the only option left ....and still he was ready to spare that Baro ant...until he realized he was the same as the previous group and his cold anger came back Also in Kurapika's case it was vengeance, he felt sick bc he compared how he was feeling during the act of killing another human with how Uvo and the others supposedly felt killing his people ("nothing" ): 'how can they not feel anything?' Spoiler ....and we know that Gon felt that way multiple times through the show, with Nobu and Pitou : 'how can you so easily kill/play with my/someone else's precious person and not feeling anything?? worse you want ME to show you mercy? that's too unfair!' Gon is ready to sacrifice everything to kill such an awful and shameless being I totally get his logic and his feelings

I don’t get your point? It doesn’t seem like you have a different interpretation of Gon’s behavior, you just feel it’s more justified/agree with him We’re not saying he’s necessarily evil, he just lacks empathy toward people he doesn’t feel a connection to. He’s very childish and doesn’t have the ability to consider other peoples point of view. Whether you think there is honour in his actions is a different discussion

26:31 I think that's why, or at least one of the reasons why, he always says "bad roll" bc as soon as he sees his weapon he knows how many will die inevitably and he doesn't enjoy it... but also my theory is that the weapon matches the enemy/threat's level or their hostility/nen, so if he can deal with it with a gun shot it's #4, if he has to kill many at once it's #2 and if the enemy is too powerful....iykyk

Well, there is another perspective to gon, chimera ants who hunt in groups are expected from gon to be unified like friends or family, like humans but humans who went to the wrong direction. I think that is what bothered gon. This expectation shattered, then he sees that they just became like merciless serial killers. also gon likes to help people so binolt fighting him to make him stronger made him feel happiness, and he got used to hisoka being around. But unified groups who cast away one of them who was like a companion because he is weaker. I mean the contrary happened with the phantom troupe with nobunaga: Phase one: he thought of them as merciless killers Phase two: if you are not merciless then why the f*** don't you have mercy towards others. Phase 3: gon talks to phinks with ease somewhat like what happened to hisoka but still not the same. Attitude: he did shitty stuff but i got used to him a little bit. Gon is a wild animal that is what makes him like that, that could make him good at nen.

The Queen meant that ever since she started eating humans, those traits have been passed down to the soldiers, not that she already had human genes before. They discovered humans during this arc.

Since her questioning is about finding the concept of names amusing, she wonders to herself if the reason behind that is because she also has human blood just like her children, "however how faint" Which could explain why she looks humanoid in the first place, we never get a proper reason as to why she is mutated and is a bigger queen in size, we just get different hypothesis, the queen isnt just a bigger ant queen, shes one that has her body be more similar to a human than it should. But regarding that bit of dialogue, she is talking about herself being a byproduct of human consuming.

Chimera ants awakening to nen by being attacked by it is just like disabled nen users on battle tower arc that could survive the nen attack, hisoka wanted gon and kirua to avoid this so he blocked the floor entrance. It's nice to see this being back from an old arc, it adds so much consistency to the story

I don't think Carson is right in this one. Kite is enough of a veteran to know those ants have emotions and consciousness. He already ascertained those suspictions when he faced the previous ones in the NGL real heardquarters. Sidney is right here, its more simple and Carson made it more complex than it is. It's not a bad theory but Kite's thinking was pretty straightforward as is foreshadowing, and also a real problem with Gon. Kite didn't waver and I don't think he would like certain character did in the future cough Knuckes cough. Gon is a liability and thats why Kite uses "dangerous" to describe that way of thinking. Because it is.

Another instance of Gon giving someone he considers a bad guy a way out of this in order to justify his complete lack of mercy towards them after they reject it. And it's not really him being a psychopath or whatever, it's simply a way of coping with his hypocrisy, how he rationalizes hurting others or even killing them to himself despite not believing that it is right, "They chose this way so it's fine, I didn't do anything wrong.", it's a very childlike way of dealing with things and he is certainly not self-aware in this regard.

If you guys are already having this type of discussion about Gon's behaviour, wait a couple more episodes. There is a scene that get's me mad every time between him and Killua. I get that he is a kid and killua is raised in different ways but still, Gon's way of thinking is dangerous just like Kite says and will be proved to be an hipocrisy.

You said it. He is a kid, and Gon isn't perfect. Killua's used to being a murderer, while Gon is in his infancy in terms of experience. All this happened while he was a kid. I'm not mad at him because at least he's learning from his mistakes.

Why is everyone surprised that Gon killed this Ant who literally just described his joy for killing innocent people? The purpose of Kite, Killua and Gon here is to literally forcibly abort a baby and murder Ants but that’s not given any moral scrutiny AT ALL but when Gon kills an Ant you automatically are super critical of his morality and actions. He’s literally doing what this arc set him out to do.
