The two lessons I learned from this video are 1.) his connection to works of service he learned from his family (as opposed to what he refers to as the money economy) and 2.) when he said after every good acting job, he'd get another machine, reminding me that these kinds of spaces are built slowly; that it's not about having all the tools but about working with what you have until you can afford the next step.

It's really cool to see him purely as a woodworker, rather than an actor who woodworks. This shows him in a very different light which honestly offers a new perspective of who he is.

I wonder if it's just the camera exposure or dramatic lighting for the film, but it's almost dangerously dark in this workshop! I know they produce fabulous pieces and are skilled craftsman, but I would go crazy straining to see all day long. Nick is looking fit tho!

I assume that works because of the camera shutter?

lol right off the bat, why is there a heater up by the ceiling? I’m just as confused as Nick! Heat rises… there’s a reason heaters are all sold as floor units. Why would you ever put a heater that high up, it wouldn’t do anything, especially in a shop like that… lol

Amazing shop. But something I noticed, is it me more or is the lighting terribly dim??
