To whomever may read this comment, please, please, make this carrot cake. I've made it over and over again and it has become a staple recipe for me, it's so delicious, the texture is beautiful and it also keep well in the fridge for a couple of days. I fell in love with carrot cake after visiting London, having tasted one slice at a stall in Borough Market, and when I came home I looked for a good recipe and, well, I found a marvelous one. This is literally the best carrot cake I’ve ever made and I made it for my Husband and his family and they absolutely loved it! I changed a few things, I used self raising flour and no baking soda(didn’t have plain flour at home) substituted the light brown for dark brown sugar and used 50g less for both sugars and finally added 1/2 cup of walnuts as well. I will definitely be baking this carrot cake again

yeah you can really tone the sugar down. the 530 grams of sugar in this recipe is maaadness :D Otherwise the recipie is great.

It’s diabetes knocking on your door. 300g sugar for this cake is more than enough. 250g for the batter and absolutely max. 50g for the frosting. Sugar is something you get used to so easily, that’s why so many people have lost it a bit on the taste buds and need to just adjust back.

I just tried this recipe and it’s really good! Just remember to reduce the amount of oil (at least 3/4 of what the recipe calls for ) and sugar (250grams is more than enough).

I made carrot cake for the first time using this recipe as I usually bake chocolate cakes , I tried it and it turned out so good!!! Even for those who don’t like fruit cakes , this cake was so moist , delicious and amazing! I couldn’t stop myself . I made it along some cream cheese frosting , I also reduced the sugar and oil and it was 10/10! Family loved it too! Thank you for sharing the recipe ! 😇

I just made this because tomorrow is National Carrot Cake Day. I didn't use raisins but otherwise I followed your recipe almost to a T. My husband said it was "the best carrot cake he has ever had", as he was especially happy with the frosting not too sweet. I’ve been making this recipe since 2017 and I looooove it. I just modified the sugar amount to less than a half of the original recipe, I use 150gr 50% white 50% brown and the texture of the cake is still good, and the cake is already very sweet. Thaks for this super good cake recipe ♥️

I literally just won a Bake Off Competition in work with this recipe!! The word everyone used to describe it was 'moist' I had comments like best carott cake I've ever had! I split this mix into two loaf sized baking tins. I actually prefer carrot cake when it's in the loaf shape. I also used a spoon and a half of nutmeg since a lot of other carrot cake recipes use that. Love this cake!

It turned out great! I did half recipe. I took the advice from the comments so I used half of sugar (50gr brown sugar and 50gr white sugar) and 100mL oil. It's perfect! Totally recommended✨

This is so great…. I am addicted to the recipe. Thank you so much ❤️ I have made 10 times in two months since I discovered this video. I sometimes made two whole cakes at a time to share with many friends. I also cut the amount of sugar - a half cup of raw sugar and another half cup of brown sugar as I like the smell of raw sugar. (I cut the oil to 3/4-1 cup!) Still sweet because the frosting is sweet. (Cut the icing sugar to 1 cup as well!) I might try reducing more next time. Please please please bake the pecans ahead! 10 mins at 180’C The taste will be so much better! Made them with baked pecans only just yesterday and it is amazing…… my 3 year old son and I sit there and ate 1/4 straight away. So great.

Oh MY GOD!!!! I just made this.. my very first carrot cake.. and it is beyong perfect.. better than a cafe.. this recipe is perfect guys. I followed all the measurements by cup size rather than weight yet still perfect.. just for the frosting i put only 1cup of sugar which was also too sweet added a pinch of salth and vanilla essense.. I agree with every preceding comment - every single person that I have made this cake for ( also in muffin format) has echoed that this is simply the best carrot cake they have ever tasted. I don’t even bake as I don’t have a sweet tooth and prefer savoury dishes however I have fallen in love with it and so have other self confessed ‘non carrot cake lovers’. I have made carrot cake a few times but wasn't really 100% happy with it..either the cake wouldn't be moist to my liking, or the icing would be too sweet. But I made this a few days ago and absolutely loved how the cupcakes turned out! They were so moist and the texture was just right. Also the icing was perfect!! I made this cake and use a glass bake ware in a electric stove i had to turn the oven down from 350 to 325 for a hr or until the tooth pick came clean. It came out beautiful and looks yummy; also very easy to make i only had cashews around the kitchen can't wait to see how it taste. Will let you know.

I like that you guys added the raisins in the dough. Not all recipes do, and I loooove raisins in the carrot cake, and I always add them. Also, I think these 2 layers can be sliced into 2 additional layers, thus, making it 4 layers, instead of 2 layers.
