For my helmet-mounted camera and all reframed 360 shots, 100%. For chest mount, I want to play with the LOG color profile and see what I can get for dynamic range in the trees, but I’m definitely down with using it for the main camera and seeing how it performs all modded up like my GoPros. Ryan

Great video, thanks for the solid comparisons. The day the One RS was announced, I sold my Hero 9 and ordered it. Should be arriving in a few days. The 48mp stills is huge for me, since a big part of my usage is wide reefscapes when i'm snorkeling/freediving.

how is your user experience? im planning to get one, i want to use it for snorkeling but because of the modular design im still concerned, did u use yours with a dive case?
@098Chris2 жыл бұрын
@@EriX88888 I haven't found an easy place to order the dive case yet.... And the 360 dive setup seems like a disaster! Honestly I think it's a total wash between the RS and GP10. The 10 is easy easier to just turn on and use, and get good results with. The RS has more potential but it's pretty fiddly, and I'm not sure how rugged it is yet.

@@098Chris thanks for the reply, im keen to try out this 360 one rs because of the 2 in one package which include the 360 camera that can be quite interesting, however im wary of the bad aftersales service, warranty, and the waterproof issues without the dive case, what makes this funnier is i saw all the insta360 reps telling ppl to use it with dive case and i cant find it listed anywhere except the official website... on the other hand gp10 has the overheating issues as well, really cant make up my mind, after your usage what do u think?

@@EriX88888 I took mine with the 360 lens freediving a week ago and it was just fine without a case, but the images were useless. Because of the curved lenses it cannot focus underwater without a dive housing. The video and still images were all out of focus and the stitch lines were really weird. Completely unusable without a housing... Unfortunately the housing and the vertical battery adds about $150 to the cost!
@EriX888882 жыл бұрын
@@098Chris nice insight, i have read somewhere that 360 lenses are generally not useful in underwater situation, im guessing something to do with the light refraction between the lens and also the water, i think it is better to get the 4k dive case instead, and also i heard the 360 mod is not really waterproof, anyway i think maybe i will go for the safer option which is the go pro or dji osmo action (1st gen) where the dive cases are readily available, hmm

I've yet to publish my own review. However I have found that the image quality of the RS is better than the R. The 1-inch Mod with the new Core and the sharpness set to Low looks really good, and on the 360 mod, you can get a nice, natural, yet still sharp image with the sharpness on low. From my own tests the new core with the 360 mod is definitely capturing more fine detail than the old one, and the stabilisation now throughout is very good indeed (and seems to have improved with the latest release firmware). I haven't quite had the same experience regarding the windproofing for the mics though, but I'll be doing more tests on that.
@TheLoamRanger2 жыл бұрын
Agreed! Insta told us to set the sharpness to Medium, but that was definitely too crunchy. The Low setting looks quite nice though and not over sharpened. We still need to try out the 1 inch mod, but I'm expecting good things. The wind reducer is a bigger deal for me (Ryan) due to how much POV mountain bike footage I capture and how I've always had to mod my previous cameras. It doesn't get rid of all the wind, but it does help! Looking forward to your review, Simon. 🍻

My ONE R got fogging inside the 360 lenses after about a year of use. My supplier sent the cam to Insta360 and after 6 months of no resolution my supplier gave me a refund. @@pucs82 ive gone through the app and although HDR is nice I haven't seen anything to help with the metering. The camrea overall is great but for my main use the meter is a big plus since I use the camera to record track days. If your not using the camrea to look out the window of a car you should fine. I have had both the list 360 One RS and the insta 360 X2. underwater with the 360 module it is not possible to use the cameras without the original case. images are blurry and lacking in detail. but even with the 4K module I had problems it doesn't have enough image definition. I used the 4K module without a case and the image was not as good as the GoPro 8 I had. so I would say that today GoPro is much better for underwater shooting.

The major issue I've read about the Insta360 cameras and it has nothing to do with the hardware itself is the return/warranty. People claim the the company has a horrible return policy & warranty. GoPro is a well known brand and seem to give a much better service in that regards.

@@runthejoules that was one of the things I was thinking was an awesome pro. You get the action cam and 360 in one. I was wondering if I would end up missing more shots if I have to swap the module rather than starting the 360 and GoPro 9 at the same time. How do you usually shoot to avoid issues like that? Do you have a certain time when you switch lens during the shoot? I do a lot of sports shoots so wondering what you might recommend for something like that if you had all these cams at your disposal.

Great video guys however this release kinda fell flat for me. The only thing that stood out was the HDR mode which looks great but I don't think it will make me switch. My Hero 10 with the media mod and lens mod gives me the width I like and the audio options with the media mod is 2nd to none. No other company has come close to creating clean audio. Sure, it adds bulk and weight but when compared to the RS they're about the same size. Again, great video, looking forward to more!

Hello guys, first of all thank you for the great review!!! I need help. I am a cyclist. I ride 70% on the road and 30% in the mountains. I am a cycle tourist, I enjoy discovering new places, photographing monuments and highlights, etc. So far I have photographed monuments, nature, simply highlights with my cell phone. If I do this with my cell phone I either have to stop or do it while driving, which is often dangerous!!!!!!!!!! A) I'm looking for an alternative, namely a camera on the helmet or on the chest. I take photos while driving (with a cell phone or remote control), but I want to see them immediately after I take them. E.g. On the display of the mobile phone attached to the handlebars of the bicycle, whether the photo is OK, etc. B) Alternatively, I would also like to make a video and later take out the pictures using some program. What is important to me is that the photos must contain GPS data, otherwise the Komoot app will not accept them. I also want the photos to be at least reasonably high quality. But I fear that removing them from the video will compromise quality. I would also like to say that I stay on my bike for 4-6 hours and it is a problem to create 4K videos (battery life, overheating, etc.). Can someone please advise me which of these two cameras (gopro 10 or insta 360 4k edition) do you recommend for my purposes? Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

See to me the GoPro was never on the throne. It's image quality has always been garbage, the extreme wide angle looks unrealistic, distortion is through the roof... and I'd like something a bit more narrow but still wide angle that gives good image quality and doesn't distort everything like crazy. I was kinda into the Sony RX0 II to be honest, but it's so old and still incredibly expensive that I'm kinda interested in the Insta360 One RS 1", but nobody really talks about it in detail... Everyone just focuses on the aspects that are GoPro-like, not the ONE aspect that sets the RS apart from every other action cam.

In our experience, literally everyone makes a better camera than GoPro. I swear GoPro has a patent on locking up, blanking SD cards and black screens. They build the worst pieces of crap -- both Insta360 and DJI cameras are infinitely more reliable. Heck, even cheap ass Akaso's work better.
