I use too many programs that only run on Windows so I stick with it. My main issue is a windows 11 23H2 bug where explorer does not close down when exiting a directory. I can accumulate 22 running explorer tasks per day eventually causing problems. The task manager resets only 1 by 1 and there is no kill option for explorer. I discovered a dos shell command to kill them all then I need to create a new explorer task to bring desktop back.... very annoying.

Is there a way to still use Windows 10 if my computer is not good enough for Windows 11? It makes me sad that I only have till October to figure it out

You can use it, the problem is security updates. And general software and driver support on going.

If you want to run Windows 11 there are plenty of guides on installing it on unsupported hardware. Personally I am waiting to see if Microsoft caves in to the majority of their customer base still being on Windows 10 and extends the cut off date or something similar.

What if you don't want to wipe the drive and keep your files and applications? I think the way you installed was a clean wipe and install

if you have anything you want to save at all. external drive - copy one file at a time. creating a windows backup or old folder is a trap. then clean install

Naw, wait for Window 12 or something better. 11 is like Vista or 8. It's REALLY BAD. I still use Win 7 with 10 as backup for a long time.

I've used multiboot and virtual with Linux back in the day and honestly it's neither easier nor better. I want windows... As a gamer and diverse enthusiast I just want it without onedrive. I want to be able to manage windows defender so it doesn't scan MY OWN INPUTS. Yes function for mouseacceleration very scary, but let's not worry about the malware pornsite that popped up by itself and opened 120different malware downloads (wish this was a joke). And in real time doubling my cpu usage. I want it without edge. And When I am the one and only admin/owner I want it to treat me as such. Settings to change that are only superficial. Cool but not necessary would also to get word and excel (only | 2007 enterpries version) with your install. While Linux offers more to personal choice it's limited in that you need to lookup specific things whenever you want to run specific programs and that will only work to that program, unless you're happy running everything at mediocre. And then you have to trade around a billion things every time you want to do a single thing. You will fuck up eventually! Best case it does not completely destroy your hardware along with it and that is worse than whatever crap windows delivers with it's otherwise great system. It also does not offer a "working" platform for developers. The irony of needing windows to make linux... if your only goal is to read on fecesbook and watch metube just leave desktops entirely.
