Thankyou for the very detailed & helpful video. We had to replace our jandy jxi 4 times within 3 years due to faulty heat exchangers. We said enough is enough & switched to pentair, luckily it has given us no problems at all so far. I installed it indoors with a fresh air intake & the versaflow thing

Hello, he does talk about the importance of bonding the heater but unfourtunely does not display how to do it. There were some parts of the video that didn't make it because the cameras failed during filming due to overheating. We do apologize.

We would not recommend doing that.

Normally the smartest part of a pool system would be an automation system. All the pool heater does is heat the water during cooler weather climates or changes. But to answer simply yes you can. Hope this helps!

We made the mistake of running 240v into the heater with the 120v plug installed…..hence why I’m here 😢. Our clue was nothing powered on when we tried to turn it on. Is the fix for this just replacing the circuit board or is the heater more or less now just a lawn ornament?

To be honest it would be hard to say. You may need to have someone come out to look at it so that way they can determine what the problem is.

quick question if I have an in ground concrete spa 8' x 8" x 4' deep what size heater do I need ? Thanks plus I'm seeing that pentair isn't getting good reviews vs hayward. . I also am in PHX what do you recommend Thanks

A lot of this depends on your gas availability at your house and how fast you would like to heat your body of water. We always recommend the 400k btu heaters because of the quick heat times of the units. Also, we would always recommend Pentair over Hayward.

My neighbor’s Pentair is now 16 years old and is finally starting to show signs of wear. That’s pretty amazing life long durability. They use the spa a lot and have never serviced it in the last 6 years since they acquired the home. I’m trying to get them to invest in a new Pentair and we’re shopping around on price, but getting someone to install seems to be quite expensive.

Do you typically install a temperature pressure relief valve on your boilers? The code here requires one to be installed. Is it not a big safety issue?

Temperature relief valves are required by some codes... which is why they do not install at the factory. Please check your local jurisdictions to see if it is required. There are A TON of variables if it is something we recommend or not. For example, if you have a "flooded suction" system, we recommend it. That means if the pool is higher than the equipment. Sorry I know this answer isn't the best help, but it is all we can provide right now... Short answer, it never hurts to install one!

Pentair MasterTemp 400 heating light flashing is caused when the heater is calling for heat but not igniting. Hope this helps!

I am purchasing a Pentair Mastertemp 250 model 460732. It does not a power cord. Does Pentair sale a cord for it? So it doesnt have to be hard wired?

Hello, unfortunately they do not sell a cord with those models. If you were purchasing a 125 model they do sell those units with or without a power cable. Cable is not sold separately however. Hope this helps!

I have a brand new propane pentair mastertemp 125 , it won't ignite , my switch is on , what kind of pressure does this unit require, my propane line has a 10 pound regulator on it from my bottle , a 100 pounder which pentair said was sufficient , thanks

how do I hook up the electrical if I want to run it on 110? obviously I run a ground wire and a hot leg and I hook up the ground to ground. but what do I connect my hot leg to?(black wire or red wire) and do I need to run a neutral? I didn't think I needed to cause there's no white wire coming out of the heater. I tried connecting my hot leg to both red and black coming out of the heater and nothing powered up. and yes I have the 120 converter plug plugged into the heater.

Hi There, so for a Pentair Mastertemp, Black Wire is the Hot 120V Leg and Red would be neutral. You must connect a neutral line when doing any 120V applications, that is how the circuit is closed. After the power is connected via wiring, then you can install the 120v plug. Please make sure that if you ever go back to 220/240v, plug in the old 220V/240V plug first, the heater will die if 220/240v is plugged wired into the heater with the wrong plug installed. Summary Below for 110/120V. Black - HOT 120V Red - Neutral Green - Ground 120v plug
