These are really nice for reaching in a fuel tank and clamping off active fuel lines. A must have tool for any small engine mechanic. In this video I show you have to make a simple to for snaking fuel lines into 2 cycle equipment. Disclaimer:

I've always repaired the chainsaws I have and friends ones including fitting a replacement Husqvarna 373XP piston and cylinder on a friends machine. When my Husqvarna 351 started leaking fuel from the hose as it exited the fuel tank, I ordered a new hose. When it arrived and I sat down with the new hose and the saw I couldn't see an easy way to complete the fix, surely I could do this easily!! Well I sat there and in the end gave up and did a google search and came to this website.I used this method but had some old mains house wiring with 2.5 mm solid copper wire, I stripped off the insulation and made a puller with this copper wire. This clip showed an easy way to tread the rubber tubing through the tank etc. So a huge thanks for your info!! I've just got a second saw of mine to fix needing a new fuel line, no problem now. KZbin and people willing to share their knowledge is such a great thing to have at our disposal.

Thank you for posting this. After about an hour of trying to fish a line I was about to quit. I stumbled across this video and in about 2 minutes I built the concept of this tool and had the line fished. Thank you again.

Thank you, sir, for sharing how to do this and how to make the tool. This is what makes KZbin great! I’ve just finished making mine and can’t wait to replace the fuel line I’ve been trying to figure out how to replace. Very much appreciated!

Thank you for posting this, I just spent at least 1 hour installing one fuel line yesterday and I will make this tool before I replace the next fuel line. If I had this months ago it would have saved many hours of struggling to replace the two lines on my MacCat chain saw with a bulb primer. Thank you again.

That's AWESOME!!!! I just used some picture hanging wire attached to a screwdriver (as my handle) and it pulled the new Tygon line through! You saved me from a lot of wasted time and frustration! Thank you so much for sharing! :D

I'm in a small engine shop doing a lot of 2 cycle repair....and I do a lot of fuel line changing. 99.9 % of the time thats the fix...thanks to ethanol and old age:) I usually cut the hoses about an inch long at the end into a "V"and then pull them thru with the hemostat tool...but this may just work faster and I'm going to try it. I do a lot of craftsmen/poulan where 1 of the lines is really small and goes thru the frame ....thats where I want to test it. I'll come back and let you know. I already have mechanic wire..I just may have to get something thinner.. Great job...now I'm subscribed to Donboy and you!

Thanks so much. Am getting into 2 cycle engine repair. Have messed around with this, using fishing line, for at least an hour. Look forward to using your suggested tool. I have a question. I have noticed that many people that work on 2 cycle engines have forceps. Is there a reason for using forceps as opposed to using needle nose pliers.
@splash5974
@splash5974 5 жыл бұрын
Those are called hemostats, not forceps! These are good cause they wont cut the line... The actual use of these are to close off arteries during surgery.
@TheCrittercam001
@TheCrittercam001 5 жыл бұрын
Also with hemostats you can close them on the fuel line and they won't come off until you take them off. Kinda like an extra set of hands.

Simple's great, but I'm not sure that would warrant a place in my toolbox. I'm sure a great one could be made with some type of wire insulation or tubing or something, with the end split and a wedge on a line through the middle, such that you squeeze a trigger on the handle to expand the end, which is inserted into the fuel line - or if you're not trying to make it complex for complexity's sake, just a hose barb/tube the size of the carbs pickup, attached to the business end of your device. Or, run it strait through the fuel line, and slide the line along it to guide it through the hole. That way, you get a real one-step tool, without having to monkey around cutting the line to fit the tool. My 2 cents, as someone who's never even installed a 2stroke fuel line - pardon my being a know-it-all tool snob.
