I've watched 3 or 4 videos of how to do this and they all made it seem so unbelievably difficult. I have spent 3 days scratching my head trying to figure this out then I found your video. You made it look so simple and I actually finished my stair runner today using your video as a guide and Im so chuffed...thank you!

Would you mind letting me know what you used to get the blood out of the carpet after you removed the end of your finger with the box-cutter?
@KeithShannonDirectCarpet4 жыл бұрын
I don’t remember cutting myself on that job! But it’s possible! We use a knife nicknamed Bloody Mary! But if we do get blood on the carpet we just dilute it with water then use a generic cleaner on it! Most of the carpets these days are very easy to clean!!! Thanks for the question.

That's what I dont understand. Stapling the carpet seems easy enough.... but how the heck do you achieve that 90° custom corner. It has to be custom sewed etc, right? My stairs are shaped just like this, but I'm trying to figure out how to handle the one corner.... I might just send it on an angle (no 90° corner).

Good Morning Keith Shannon... Fantastic video!! Rongly installed pattern... Who cares.. I guess Rikardou that has 180 yrs exp does... Anyhow.. i purchased item # 847647 from Lowes plus Harbor Freights best 1/4" narrow crown stapler (air) w/ 1/2" long staples... stair tool, double sticky back tape and off to the races... That is until i watched you... and i guess its a good thing cuz im at an impass as to what to do on the landings which are very much like what you are doing...I read all the comments and see that you have "Patterns" for the pie shapes... "Ya it’s a little tricky!" is an understatement.. I won't have a problem with the strait parts but Not sure what to do with the corner landing?? Keith I am Open for Ideas... Thanks again for the Awesome content!!

hey Dan. Ok if your doing a runner and have to turn the stairs..it is tricky math... best thing to do is make a template out of paper cover the pie stairs draw on it and make it blend ... i will try to get a video out to you in the next few days just to showcase... sorry i couldnt give you a better answer... i custom make those angle stairs to fit on each staircase.. Good Luck

@@KeithShannonDirectCarpet So if we do it that way, it appears that we have to forgo the stitched hem on the outboard edge of the runner? At least that is what it looks like to me. Are carpet suppliers able to supply custom pieces as shown if I provide a paper template? Great videos, by the way! If you've released the aforementioned video, I'm not yet finding it on KZbin.

@@careykalupson2571 the outside edge has been bound. or as you call it a stitched hem... each stair out of those top 2 are individually cut there is a video on my page you can watch.. its a tutorial of how to make the paper template and cut the carpet.. unfortunately getting the carpet at a store already cut probably wont happen .. we do them here and ship them out,,, im sure if you made a template you could cut them yourself ... heres the link to that video tutorial Link: kzbin.info/www/bejne/mYDCi6GDhZaef68

I noticed that the second from top stair (where you cut your finger) runner border was to the left...when all the others were to the right side. Also I wish you had spoken about 'How' to measure and hints on the two stairs at the bottom where you first started. This is the tricky part for me. I think Im going to get large sturdy cardboard and make a template of the Turn Stair area, then cut the runner. Interesting that the runner on had a Grey Border on the one side only. Would have been helpful to tell us exactly how many runners you used etc etc... I had the turn the music off it was so annoying!

Why have I just had a carpet fitter tell me this is incredibly complex and would require the carpet (no pattern) to be sent away for 'bonding' before installation?
@KeithShannonDirectCarpet3 жыл бұрын
Some stairs are harder than others!!! Other factors can be the carpet used and how handy a person is ! If your talking about turning stairs, you should make a template! Straight stairs are simple but both need the sides to be bound! Or binded, what does your staircase look like????
@alexolivares13273 жыл бұрын
Because the cut needs to get binded... as you can see the corner is actually not straight that “peak” you see on the left is what makes this complicated

Without cutting it in strips and bending and gluing to the underlay then you can’t keep the patter lined up.
@nicholas666ful3 жыл бұрын
you can't match the pattern on the pie or twist steps, its impossible , if the stripe is two inches wide when its cut on an angle it becomes wider so will not match, try it on a piece of paper.
