Now that the passenger side of Mike's Cabriolet is looking a lot better, its time to work our way around the car. The firewall currently in the car was cut and modified beyond being easily repaired. Thankfully in all of the 34 parts Matt bought there was a nice firewall! So today Matt and Mike are going to work on removing the old firewall, and remove the cowl pieces from the replacement. Once the firewall is clamped in, Mike works on spot welding the firewall in. Matt gets tagged in to weld in the cowl side patch to finish off the repairs needed to the front of the car! Slowly the 34 Cabriolet is starting to look like a perfectly shitty hot rod and less like a pile of shit!!

Looking good! One thing the purists/ restorerer guys don't realize about hot rod guys is that many hot rods are created like this. These are cars they wouldn't think of touching. I really like this idea of "saving" these cars that otherwise would never have survived. You guys are an important representation of what younger guys are doing to keep this hobby going strong! I never miss your videos.

That old cabriolet is coming together well - it looks more and more solid at each step. It's hard undoing earlier work and putting it right again and the old panels sure put up a good fight, didn't they? As I always tell stubborn parts 'Resistance is futile'. You showed that cut about firewall just that. Well done - you're laying the foundations of a great old car.

I am surprised that you guys don't seem to have a spot weld cutter. The one I am familiar with is made by the Blair Co. It looks like a small hole saw with a 1/4" hexagonal shank and a spring loaded center point. I am sure Eastwood sells them. It would save a significant amount of time and reduce the amount of distortion to the saved panels. I'm glad to see Mikes 34 going together.

Hoping every 4 to 6 weeks to see some improvement work done on the "Mikey-olet". Of course based on parts, scheduling, shop constraints, egc. Mike you need to get longer/oversize tee's/coveralls to lay over your low hung, unbelted, loose trousers. Not sure belted pants or suspenders is your thing. Maybe belt strap ties or something to keep those pants up. What level of restoration do you plan for the car? Restore to the original, close to original, patina finish like Matt's cars? Any pictures of what it or similar looked like originally vs what you are going for? Paint color, upholstery, dash gages, engine type/size, tires & rims, roof covering, etc?

Sorry, but that statement has absolutely nothing to do with this video or the build project! Salvaging these beat up parts to build a hot rod body is obviously lots more tedious and labor intensive than you know! The "young buck's" ages have nothing to do with this one but experience does with so much repair necessary.
