We got photocells for our garages. Our breezeways are on timers. Wish they were photocelled too. After a week on call I can finally make it to the coast for some fishing. Hope everything down there aint blown out to sea. Got a buddy that lives at Alligator Point that said he got 6' surge. We got lucky Lex.

I may be wrong but if you read the instruction those type of photocell are not intended to be installed upside down due to water intrusion, it must be mounted at top of the panel, good informative video anyway on how to connect the wires, thanks for you time

Thank you for your explanation. When i installed my photocell, it doesn't work because my lights doesn't shot off during daytime. I plugged the black wire coming from the breaker with the black wire of the photocell and the black wire coming from the lights with the red wire of the photocell. Finally, the three white wire ( neutral ) together. Is it correct ? Sorry for my english, it's not my mother tongue.

I have a black white and red wire coming from the light (light has an outlet too). Where does the red wire from the light go to? Should it just have a wire nut?

It looked like it was just a bad connection on the load side did you check voltage on the load side before replacing it skidbro? Photocell might be good still. Oh well, they’re cheap anyway.

Yea, if it was a major expense, I would've tried to save it. I once had a breezeway light arc when I was adjusting it. That little arc made the photocell not work afterwards. The wire coming of the the breaker, does is have to be copper or regular wire that came with the photocell?

Should be copper from the breaker but sometimes people pig tail if it's too short.

why did you not check to see if the existing photo cell was working? Seeing that is was only a lose wire that may have caused the dis connect. Why is the photo cell so close to the ground? I think that it will work better if it was mounted up high.

I don't think so. It would just engage as the sun went down like the main photocell.

@@LexVance It's the slider. It's used to adjust the amount of the light the cell receives. I'll use them to sync as best as possible other photocells. If one is in more light, slide the metal over the cell until it turns on about the same as others. They will have to be adjusted from time to time, because of the angle of the sun throughout the year or somebody keeps messing with the. They are not used to test to see if it works. Tape for that , or I'll slide a leaf between the slider and cell.
