My photo electric is rated at 120 volts that is installed on a low voltage power control console. My low voltage console has circuit 4 at 12 v to 15v.

Can it work with DC power as source? I want to power on DC bulbs to be turning on automatically at night

The clicking isn’t the photocell, but rather the relay contact which is part of the control circuit - so you have the photocell (which is photons bombarding the semiconductor material, causing electron excitation which results in current flow) - next, the control circuit ( in your example) has a NO contact that is now energized and opens the path to the load (typically red line) - thus lights go out during day and come on at night. These photocell switches also have a separate neutral so as to maintain very minimal volt/current to operate the switch itself.

Yes there is a relay inside the photocell switch that’s why it’s called a switch if there is no relay the voltage will be variable and it will burn any electrical device on the load side

How? When the load is expected to handle the maximum ratings on the load side.

The variable part isn’t the switch, but rather the photocell itself - photons bombarding the semiconductor material initiates electron excitation which reduces resistance and causes current flow - the more sunlight (photon energy), the more conductive electrons which yields lower resistance (more current flow) - this is determined on the semiconductor qualities
