I was so pleased to find this solution to my problem. Alas, it didn't work! I have new PC with an Asus A520M-K board, which is not on the Windows 11 Supported List on the Asus website. The answer to FAQ 5, regarding TPM modules, states: "If your motherboard is not listed on support list, it means your motherboard does not meet the minimum requirements to support windows 11 even though you install other TPM 2.0 module (Card) on your motherboard." So it seems you need to check the Supported List before wasting your hard-earned on a module that will get you nowhere.

The manual for this board doesn't mention TPM and it isn't listed on the B550 chipset isn't mentioned on the Asus Windows 11 Supported Motherboard page [ www.asus.com/microsite/motherboard/ASUS-motherboards-Win11-ready/ ] Sadly, I think you're out of luck if you want to install officially supported Windows 11. There's a myriad of guides on KZbin for getting around the various requirement checks so you can install Windows 11 anyway. I personally do not like installing an operating system with workarounds because eventually, Microsoft will most like add some feature that will brick the installation on that hardware. @@JerryTravisSmith good news, I installed the tpm 14-1 today and it was immediately recognized. However, I ran PC health and it says I am good to go for Windows 11, but it says windows 11 isn't available yet for all windows 10 pc's and I didn't get an option to download the windows 11 update.
@JerryTravisSmith3 жыл бұрын
@@louismaniscalco1389 I’m glad the TPM worked. I have heard of machines where you still can’t upgrade because there is at least one device on the machine is not fully supported. One version of the Microsoft Surface laptops had to wait 6 months or more to get one of the Windows 10 Updates (maybe 21H1). I figure it MS can’t get their own hardware fully supported at launch that any of us that have a fully supported machine are just lucky! Do you have any expansion cards beyond what’s built in to the motherboard?

Can you reply to this with the site where you got it from please?
@JerryTravisSmith Жыл бұрын
I got it on Amazon and paid around $70 for it (I think). I tried going through some other suppliers who had it closer to the normal MSRP of about $25, but they always cancelled my order after a few days saying they were unable to fulfill the order because the factories were unable to make enough chips. This was all right around the pandemic. I think a lot of the supply shortage has subsided.

Most useful video yet, thank you. Where did you get that TPM from, can you send a link for it?
@JerryTravisSmith3 жыл бұрын
I got it on Amazon. I should have included the link to it in the description: amzn.to/3iRzEQ6 Make sure you consult your manual if you don’t have the same board as me. I believe Asus has used 3-4 different TPM pin outs over the years.

@@JerryTravisSmith thanks, one more thing… are they all the same, some of them are $20, and some are $60, just want to make sure I get the right one
@JerryTravisSmith3 жыл бұрын
@@connerscott249 I can’t say for certain they’re all the same, but I think if the TPM is for your brand of motherboard and the pin out is the same it should work. I saw somewhere the actual chip on these is almost exclusively manufactured by Infineon. The TPM I used indeed had an Infineon chip on it. As for the price differences, I think that’s a supply and demand issue. Almost nobody bought these things before. They were $5-$8 I think. When some people figured out Windows 11 required TPM, they bought them all up and jacked up the price. I paid $37 for mine. The $60-$80 price tag is just straight-up scalping.

At this point I guess I should just get a new pc (because my pc is an AIO if it wasn't I'd swap the motherboard or add the tpm module like you did) l
@JerryTravisSmith3 жыл бұрын
I’m surprised an AIO doesn’t have TPM. I used to have some clients that always bought AIOs. Most of the time, I had to buy a whole new unit when there was a major issue or they needed to upgrade. One model I installed had upgradable RAM but that was it. They did make for a clean work area and my clients always had fancy mice and keyboards hooked to them.

I highly doubt it. TPMs are very vendor specific. To be honest, I didn't even know Samsung made PCs. What model number is your PC or motherboard? I may be able to help you find something.

Now, after three years, do you still use it? I know many people who, once the Windows 10 support ends, are switching to Linux. These days (January 2025), many Windows 10 users I know don't have the budget to buy new hardware, and from what is available, we can't tell if the processors will self-destruct if you buy Intel 13th and 14th generation CPUs. If you don't use specific software suites that are only on Windows, you can switch to Linux and use one of the many free and open source alternatives available. Your computer will operate more efficiently without the unnecessary components that Microsoft includes in Windows 11, as well as the bugs and security vulnerabilities that plague the operating system.

Why? You can just enable the Firmware TPM in your CPU
@JerryTravisSmith3 жыл бұрын
Either my CPU or motherboard doesn’t have that feature. I looked through every option in my BIOS and there was nothing pertaining to PTT or Trusted Computing. The manual made no mention of it either, other than the TPM header.

In my case, I just wanted the solution to be officially Microsoft supported because that was my main rig. In the past, they had stated they couldn’t guarantee future updates would brick a system that bypassed compatibility checks. I have installed it on many unsupported systems, just not this daily driver.
